Writing assignment 1: An invitation letter

Dear Samantha,

I hope you're doing well. I know we haven't seen much of each other in a while due to the
pandemic situation, but I'm glad that we still find ways to keep in touch, even if we both know it's
just not the same. Last time I saw you I remember you told me that you were recently getting into
cooking and I just saw one of your desserts posted on Instagram. It looks absolutely delicious!
Once we are able to see each other again, you have to promise me that you´ll bring some of your
creations.

I know you told me that you wanted to be at a food festival, so you could get new inspiration from
different cultures to help with your cooking. Well, I was thinking that maybe you'd like to come to
the Festival del Centro Histórico with me. It would be awesome! Besides, you wouldn't have to
worry about finding a hotel, since my parents would be happy to have you stay with us.

I wonder if you've ever heard of this festival before, but I'm telling you it's easily one of the best
cultural festivals in the world! It focuses around Mexico City’s historic centre and offers a vast
display of cultural spectacles; dance, music, art, theatre and opera. And of course there are also
gastronomic exhibitions in which you can get a taste of some of the most traditional and iconic
foods in Mexico. Moreover, there is a really cool vive at the festival and people are great to hang
out with.

I was also thinking that after the festival, we could book a small trip to visit some of the
archaeological ruins in Tulum you were asking me about a few weeks ago. I remember you told me
you'd love to see them one day and I see this as the perfect opportunity for us to go. I've been at
the Mayan ruins once when I was younger and I can tell you they are even more astonishing that
in pictures. Furthermore, the beaches surrounding the location provide with a beautiful landscape
and one of the most stunning sunsets you could possibly imagine.

So, why don't you think about it and get back to me once you've made up your mind? There's no
need to hurry, because we still have to wait and see how things go with the pandemic, so there is
more than enough time to plan this carefully.

Best wishes,

Ana.
