Group communication is the act of sending and receiving messages to multiple members of a

group. In a business environment, groups often use this type of communication to exchange
ideas, determine goals and motivate other members.
Effective group communication is based on mutual respect and understanding between peers.
It will come about if you encourage an environment where people are aware of their
communication style, and where you continually work with them to develop better
communication skills.

Advantages of small groups include shared decision making, shared resources, synergy, and
exposure to diversity. It is within small groups that most of the decisions that guide our country,
introduce local laws, and influence our family interactions are made.

The purpose of group communication is to exchange information in order to make decisions,

resolve confusion, build rapport and get closer to attaining the business goal. However, group
communication also has an effect on how the individuals in the group treat each other and feel
about each other.
