A multimodal deep learning method for android malware
detection using various feature.
The research paper, ‘A multimodal deep learning method for android malware detection using
various feature’ written by TaeGuen Kim, BooJoong Kang, Mina Rho, Sakir Sezer and Eul Gyu
Im in IEEE signal processing society journal proposes a novel framework for android malware
detection.
This paper used multimodal deep learning method for this purpose. In this paper, the performance
evaluated by huge number of samples. This paper also includes the comparative analysis of the
accuracy with other deep neural network model.
ASSUMPTIONS MADE: In this paper, the focus is on the development of a static analysis based
method to distinguish between malware and benign applications.

ARGUMENTS PRESENTED: In this paper, It proposed that static analysis is more preferred than
dynamic analysis. For low computational overheads static analysis is preferred. This paper also
presents how a multimodal neural networks can detect android malwares.

DATA ANALYZED: From the different dataset, this model accuracy is much greater than other
model. From the average accuracy rate of different neural networks, the multimodal neural
network is best among them.

CONCLUSION MADE: So in this paper, it showed that multimodal deep learning method can
more accurately detect android malware. Its accuracy is greater than remaining two neural
networks.

RESEARCH GAP: The method which described in this paper only works on static features but
not in dynamic features. This method won’t work in applications which use code encryption and
packing. So this method should be updated for applications having dynamic features.

MY OPINION: In my opinion idea is good. The accuracy of this method is better than other
method for detect malware in android applications. This method can be useful in different malware
detecting software and antivirus. This method resolves the overfitting problem of neural networks.
