Heroes of Faith - Paul

Heroes of Faith – Paul

Paul, born Saul of Tarsus, was one of the leaders of the
first generation of Christians. He played an important role in
preaching the Gospel to both the Jews and the Gentiles (non-
Jewish people) during the first century, and his missionary
journeys took him around the known world all throughout the
Roman Empire.

Paul started many churches. He also wrote many letters to

these churches as well as to individuals he met during his
travels. Paul’s letters that have been included in the Bible are
known as the Epistles.

Before becoming a great witness for Jesus, Paul was known for
persecuting Christians. He was present at the death of the first
Christian martyr, Stephen. Later on the road to Damascus, on
his way to arrest Christians, he had an encounter with Jesus
and a total change of heart.
