 CAUSE AND EFFECT ESSAY
Definition  A text /an essay that explain about the
analysis of the writer about why a
phenomenon is happened.
Social Function  To give a learning /knowledge about why
phenomenon is happened.
Text Structure
1. Topic Sentence (the main idea of the text)
2. Supporting Sentences (some sentences that support or develop the
idea expressed in the topic sentence)
3. Concluding Sentence (the summary of the whole text)
EXAMPLE
SOME DIFFICULT WORDS
– Expenditure = disbursement, fund spending
– Breeders = cattlemen,grazier
– Cultivate = plough, land cropping
– Poverty = penniless, poorness
– Reservoir = supply,stock
THE ANALYSIS OF CAUSE AND EFFECT STATEMENTS
BASED ON THE TEXT:
1. Cause :The people lack of clean water to either take a bath, wash clothes or drink.
Effect : Consequently, the government has to spend more expenditure in social
welfare.
2. Cause : Many breeders do not find grass for their cattle,sheep and goats.
Effect : As result, their animals get thinner day after day due to lack of enough
food.
3. Cause : Many farmers who depend on rainfall can not cultivate their land.
Effect : Consequently, they do not get regular income from agribusiness.
4. Cause :This (the drought) also causes the farmer labors of losing their jobs.
Effect : Therefore, poverty rate gets increased this year.
5. Cause :The drought has a great impact on the water reservoir: dams, lake, canal.
Effect : Their water level go down or even totally dry.

piece of paper per group,
and submit it!
2. Build the draft to make a
cause and effect essay and
make a presentation of it
next week.
