VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES

INTRO:
As you now know over a decade of years, the debate or demand for banning violent video games
have risen from that fact that there is actual evidence now that show several negative effects of
violent video games, which are to severe to ignore. These games provoke aggression, make people
aggressive and short tempered. The violence, the blood, etc., shows in these violent games can
have negative effect on children and at worst cases, can lead it insomnia. Finally, one of the worst
and most dangerous consequences of playing video game is that sometimes children try imitate the
act in real life which can be very dangerous as wella s fatal. Most children don’t are not mature
enough to even understand that real life situations are different from what they depict in games
and one needs to think before acting in real life, which is encouraged by video games. As you can
see, violent video games are no place to be part in our lives, as it brings nothing more than trouble
and danger.

PROS

 Playing violent video games causes more aggression, bullying, and fighting.
 Simulating violence such as shooting guns and hand-to-hand combat in video games can
cause real-life violent behavior.
 Many perpetrators of mass shootings played violent video games.
 Violent video games desensitize players to real-life violence.
 By inhabiting violent characters in video games, children are more likely to imitate the
behaviors of those characters and have difficulty distinguishing reality from fantasy.
 Exposure to violent video games is linked to lower empathy and decreased kindness.
 Video games that portray violence against women lead to more harmful attitudes and
sexually violent actions towards women.
 Violent video games reinforce fighting as a means of dealing with conflict by rewarding
the use of violent action with increased life force, more weapons, moving on to higher
levels, and more.
 The US military uses violent video games to train soldiers to kill.

EVIDENCES:

The Markey study undermines the counterargument that playing violent video games or video
games in general can lead to “video game related deaths,” stating that “only some individuals are
adversely affected by VVGs and that those who are affected have preexisting dispositions, which
make them susceptible to such violent media” (Robinson & Kwan, 2007; Markey & Markey,
2010).

According to the study done in the Journal of American medical ssociations, they stated that they
were linkedin in an increase long term aggressive behavior with this type of games.

INTRO:
Violent video games are often thought of as harmful and non beneficial, but they actually can help
children learn different skills. An example of these skills are how they give children an "enhanced
mental rotation facility"which allows children to recognize shapes from different angles
easier.Violent violent video games also help increase problem solving skills. They also help
increase creativity for the child. that’s why violent video games should not be banned because they
give people an opportunity to realize unconscious needs that are necessary for their psychological
health, relieve daily stress, and help people to securely display their violent

CONS

Studies have shown violent video games may cause aggression, not violence. Further, any
competitive video game or activity may cause aggression.
 Violent video games are a convenient scapegoat for those who would rather not deal with
the actual causes of violence in the US.
 Simple statistics do not support the claim that violent video games cause mass shootings
or other violence.
 As sales of violent video games have significantly increased, violent juvenile crime rates
have significantly decreased.
 Studies have shown that violent video games can have a positive effect on kindness, civic
engagement, and prosocial behaviors.
 Many risk factors are associated with youth violence, but video games are not among
them.
 Violent video game players know the difference between virtual violence in the context
of a game and appropriate behavior in the real world.
 Violent video games provide opportunities for children to explore consequences of
violent actions, develop their moral compasses and release their stress and anger
(catharsis) in the game, leading to less real world aggression.
 Studies claiming a causal link between video game violence and real life violence are
flawed.

EVIDENCES:

Olson study demonstrates that violent video games are used by adolescents to “work through
angry feelings or relieve stress” (Hamlen, 2008; Olson, Kutner, & Warner, 2008). These are in
support of the argument that video games can be beneficial.
SEX WORK SHOULD BE LEGAL

PROS:

INTRO:

 It is a profession and is voluntary. No one forces anyone to engage in it. The clients as well
as the service providers (as long as both are consenting adults) can decide for themselves.
 Legalizing this would serve legitimate needs. Many go to such services to find comfort and
companionship. Restricting sex to marriage has not been very successful. Many need such
services as they are not satisfied in their married life.
 Prohibiting prostitution does not stop such services, but rather pushes these activities
underground. So it’s better to legalize such activities as long it is voluntary on the part of the
customer and the service provider.
 It is difficult to regulate prostitution due to its underground nature. Legalizing it would give
opportunity to the government to regulate it stringently. Many say it is social stigma and
immoral. Yet it has continued since ancient times. So a regulated legal approach can be
beneficial.
 The income earned in this profession is termed illegal thus leading to creation of black
money. Legalizing can help bringing in financial regulation also. Legal prostitution can
increase tax collection and help increase revenues of the government.
 It will also make sure that sex workers keep themselves healthy.
 We invest lot of resources in prohibiting prostitution. On legalizing we can use those
precious resources to fight human trafficking, child trafficking, distribution of drugs, etc.

EVIDENCES:

CONS:

NTRO:

 Selling one’s body for money is unethical and immoral.

 Sex with multiple partners increases risk of diseases. In case of prostitution there are chances
of bodily harm too, as some clients might be violent. Thus it is not healthy
 Prostitution is also seen as an easy way to make money. But it has its own risks and
sometimes these risks can lead to even death.
 Many a times services of a prostitute are engaged by married men. Thus prostitution can lead
to destroying one's family life.
 Prostitution can never be a legitimate business. Just by legalizing it we cannot eliminate
crime. Black money will keep on getting created as black money is created when one doesn’t
want to pay taxes for the money earned. So legalizing will not solve problems of financial
discrepancies.
 Legalizing will simply increase the temptation of human trafficking and drug abuse. At least
by banning prostitution there is some deterrent for such crimes.
 Some actions are just wrong and immoral and we should not try to make them legal just
because people do it and have been doing it. Many people exceed the speed limit on roads but
we do not cancel the limits. We still enforce them. This for the safety of the driver and others
in the society.
 By legalizing it we are simply encouraging them. We need to instead find more innovative
ways to tackle this menace of prostitution than simply legalizing it.
