Topic: The Louse and the Mosquito

Stanza 1-
Creep the louse had been living in the king’s bed since three decades. The word ‘ancestral
house- Indicates the number of years the louse family had been present in the king’s bed. Each
night she and her huge family (brood) would drink the king’s blood as food; as soon as Creep
would signal her family that the king was fast asleep the entire family would drink and sip the
king’s blood. They lived undisturbed and happy.

Stanza2-
One day a mosquito flew in through the window, he came closer towards the royal bed which
was covered with a shade of gold he said that it was lovely and just the right place for him. He
smelled the perfume, felt the quilt which reminded him of the smooth banks of the holy river
Ganga. He then decided to test the bed springs and jumped on the bed and in a curvy
(parabolic) leap landed near Creep the louse.

Stanza3-
Creep the Louse asked the mosquito to flap his wings and leave at once. When the mosquito
questioned the Louse who she was, she described herself as the guardian of the house. She
said the quilt was hers and there was no place for the mosquito. The mosquito requested to
let him sleep there for just a night and he will be away in the morning, The louse agreed as
the kind hearted louse could not see the mosquito weep.
