The bottom plate will coms off the turntable unit when the seven serews (212, 214) fastening it to the turntable unit have been removed. 2. Remove the two retsining clips from behind the unit as shown in Figs. 1-3 and detach the turntable platter. 4, Disconnect the wo RCA pin plugs from the tumtable unit and unplug the power cord (165). Then, remove the turntable unit from the music center. DISASSEMBLING CHASSIS AND PCB 1. Detach the tuning knob. 2, Remove the six screws (210, 211) holding the tuner PCB. 3, Remove the three screws (211, 213) and the hexagonal screw (124) securing the dial drum (123), and the tuner PCB will ssparate from the chassis. 4, Next, remove the six screws (211) holding the amp PCB and the spring wire (131). 6, The amp PCB can be detached when the two sockets (M60, M77) and the antenna socket (163) have beon disconnected from it. DISMOUNTING TAPE RECORDER MECHANISM 1, Follow the instructions given in A and 8 above. 2, Ramove the two screws (211) securing the tape recorder mecha- ‘8 Disconnect the R/P heed lead socket (M77) end ERASE head lead socket (M78, M79). 44, Move the tape recorder mechanism as shown in the (1) (2) (3)),and it will come out of the casing ele PINCH ROLLER ADJUSTMENT 1. Set the unit into the PLAY mode. 2. Apply a tension gauge te the pinch roller. Read the gauge at the precise moment when the pinch rollar soparates from the eapsten, 3. If the gauge reading fells more than 3003 or, no adjustment is necessary. If otherwise, make adjustment by changing the force ‘of the spring coll, (See exploded view M31) TORQUE ADJUSTMENT 1, Set the unit into the PLAY, FAST FORWARD or REWIND ‘mode. 2. Measure the each torque with @ torque gauge. They shoud be as following: PLAY 30-60 ar/em FAST FORWARD — 60-100 gr/em REWIND {60 - 100 gr/em 3, Ifthe each torque fails to reach the standard value. Clean the drive bolt, flywheel, motor pulley, takeup reel, take-up pully, idler and rewind roller with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol. STRETCHING DIAL ROPE 1, Make & loop of rope 488 mm in length and hook it to the coll spring (147-2851T-063). 2. Hook the coil spring to the drum, run the rope sround the pulley by turning the drum clockwise, wind it wo rounds around the tuning shaft by turning the pulley counterclockwise, strotch it from the pulley to the drum, and run it around the drum three ‘quarters of its circumference. Then, the dial rope will be in position. ADJUSTMENT OF AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF MECHANISM 1. Sot the unit nto the PLAY mode, 2, Apply a tension gauge to the tip. Check to see that the shut-off ‘mechanism functions between 30 — 55 ors. NOTE: The tension gauge should be hold at right angles to the tip for correct measurement. 3.
