Flopzilla Pro: Range & Board Interaction

How often do ranges “hit” 10 common flops?

 “Total Hit” column = the frequency that the range hits TP+, OESD+ and
combo draws (even gutshot + overcards)
o It’s eye opening to see how some ranges completely miss or strike gold on
different flops.
o Learning which flops hit a range more than others can mean the difference
between profitable and unprofitable cbets.
 “TP+” column = the frequency the range hits all top pair hands or better (no draws)
o It’s eye opening to see how infrequently some ranges hit certain flops.
o Knowing how unlikely (or how likely) your opp hit TP will allow for better cbet
bluffing.
 “OESD+” column = the frequency that the range hits all open-ended straight draws or
flush draws along with combo draws (ex. “gutshot+pair”)
o It’s eye opening to see how frequently (or infrequently) ranges hit the best draws.
o Know which types of boards offer more OESD’s and FD’s so you can better rep
them yourself.
o It feels like they often flop flush draws, but it’s not that often at all.
o Make sure to record a note on how your opponents play their draws (passively or
aggressively with sizing).
 “Mid-p+ and gs+” column = the frequency the range hits middle pair or better and gut-
shot straight draws or better (including the combo draws).
o It’s eye opening to see how often ranges can hit mediocre hands and draws that
they might still be willing to stay in with.
o Keep in mind that your fishy/stationy opponents won’t be folding with middle
pair hands (sometimes not even 3rd pair).

Your Homework: Complete the charts for the 10%, 20% and 50% ranges. Change the ranges
as you see fit if you disagree with the calling ranges I included here.

Print and Use: Print these 4 charts once completed and use them in-game to aid in your
cbetting decisions.

This off-the-felt work will lead to a better understanding of range & board interaction, which
will lead to more +EV cbetting decisions.

Insights:

• Best flop texture for bluffing: “Chicken Board”.

• Worst for bluffing: “Broadway Board”.
• This range doesn’t interact well on “1 Up, 2 Down”, “Chicken Board” and the “Baby
Board” flops.
• Hero should only cbet for value on “Broadway Board” and “Big Card” flops because this
Broadway-heavy range hits them hard.
• Beware of mid-card and broadway heavy boards vs calling stations.
• The more closely connected the flop is with a flush draw possible, the more likely your
opponent hit a draw worth continuing beyond the flop.
