eTwinning: Reading and sharing

The main aim of our project is to promote and increase reading habits. Students, teachers and teacher librarians will exchange opinions, materials and experiences regarding reading skills. Students will be motivated to read different types of books/texts in English (as a foreign language) or in their mother tongues as a free time activity (extensive reading/ reading for pleasure).

Disciplinas: 1 Ciclo, Citizenship, Informtica/TIC, Lnguas Estrangeiras, Literaturas/Lngua Portuguesa, Prescolar, Transversal ao currculo Lnguas: EN - PL - PT Idade do aluno: 3 - 15

Ferramentas a utilizar: Chat, Correio Electrnico, Frum, MP3, Outro software (PowerPoint, vdeo, imagens e desenhos), Publicao na Web

Objectivos: - promote reading habits; motivate students to read different types of texts/ books in their mother tongues and in foreign languages; improve the teaching and learning of the English language; exchange opinions, materials and experiences regarding reading skills; promote the cooperation and communication across borders; improve ICT skills and communicative skills in English and provide a real purpose for using English and ICT. Processo de trabalho: Project work; group work; exchanging opinions, drawings, photos, MP3 files and information; creating PowerPoint Presentations, videos and a webpage or blog. Each school / group of students will work at their own pace using the ICT tools they consider appropriate. They will start answering a questionnaire about reading habits, the results will be analyzed and compared. Throughout the project (January - June 2011) students and teachers will exchange information on the following items: I am reading ....; My favourite book is ....; My favourite poem is ...; My favourite film is ....; My favourite character is ...; Favourite quotations (...) - Wall wisher sharing reading suggestions; - Comics or drawings about our favourite stories; - Whats going on at our schools library? - Creating a blog or website of the Project. Resultados esperados: The final work might be a blog or website where children and teens exchange their reading experiences and opinions. Teachers and teacher librarians also exchange materials and experiences. ICT tools and the project twinspace will enable the communication and the presentation of the materials created. English is used in a real context. We expect that our students develop new attitudes towards reading, as a spare time activity.
