As an Asian, one of the parent’s dreams for their children is to
become a lawyer. According to them, it is their pride and glory if one of their children, especially the eldest, has the title of becoming a lawyer. It also means that it is at the top of the food chain if their child becomes a lawyer. But for some Asians, like me, becoming a lawyer was not imposed by my parents. It was always a dream for me. Becoming a lawyer has been something that I have wanted to do since I was in high school. I always admire lawyers because of how they present themselves. I like how their jobs challenge their thinking and imagination on how to win complex cases. And this inspires me to work on my Juris Doctor degree currently. If one day I pass the bar exam and become a lawyer, I would like to work in foreign affairs as a Labor Attaché. Aside from my dream of becoming a lawyer, I dreamt of becoming an Ambassador of the Philippines to other countries to serve the Overseas Filipino Workers. They suffer from abuses coming from their employers. I’ve been watching a lot of news concerning the labor situation of the OFWs. Some of them died from maltreatment. Due to this reason, I wanted to focus on the labor sector of the country, especially the people working abroad. This is the very reason why I want to become a lawyer.
