SAQ 2

Rules define how a sport or game is played, including how to score points,
how to win a game or match, and what equipment can be used. There is no
structure to advise the players on how to play the sport if there are no regulations.
Moreover, to keep the game fair for everyone, each sport, game, or competitive
activity requires rules and regulations. Without these players, players can make up
their own rules as they play for their own benefit. It's the same in basketball. Even
though some athletes are vastly superior to others, there are rules in place to keep
the game fair.
Basketball may quickly devolve into a lethal brawl if there are no rules and
regulations in place. According to James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, this is
what transpired at the very first game. These rules and regulations aid in
maintaining a consistent game flow and speed. Rules are established not just to
provide a consistent level of play, but also to assure player safety, game integrity,
and a level of competition that is as fair as feasible. Despite the fact that basketball
is a difficult, muscular, high-adrenaline sport, the rules and regulations in place are
designed to prevent many forms of violence and allow the game to run in a peaceful
and equitable manner.
