Transmission

The H1 menu of the transmission is used to perform the

calibration of all the clutches, determining the current
required to apply the clutch at the bite pressure.
This procedure is required when either a new control
module has been fitted or if the previous calibration has
been erased using the “H8” procedure.

MOIL15TR02408AA 1

If, while in calibration, an anomalous condition is de-

tected, it is shown on the display with its error code on
alarm lamp; if the wrong condition is relative to the cal-
ibration, then its `U' code is displayed on upper LCD.

Calibration procedures
This procedure calibrates all clutches, determining the
current required to apply the clutch at the byte pressure.

1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and set the parking

brake.
Ensure that air conditioning, if fitted, is switched off and
all the electrical and hydraulic services are deselect-
ed and in neutral position (shuttle control, gear control,
range gear control and creeper control).
The tractor can move during this procedure: ensure
that the area around the tractor is clear and put safety
wedges under the front and rear wheels.
Transmission output speed is constantly monitored
and the calibration will not proceed unless the tractor
is stationary.
If, while in calibration, an anomalous condition is de-
tected an “U” fault code will appear on the display with
the relative number, a flashing light on the instrument
cluster and a beep signal.
The fault condition must be corrected before calibration
performing.

2. Enter in the calibration mode by using the service

switches on the instrument cluster or using the “short-
cut” buttons on the gear lever:

buttons (3) or (4) and press button (2) to access
in it.
Select and access in transmission submenu.

• Shortcut: press and hold downshift button (1) and

upshift button (2) on the gear lever (3) while start-
ing the engine.
NOTE: To use the shortcut is not necessary access the
HH menu, so don’t install the diagnostic tool 380000843 .

3. Upon entering the calibration mode, “CAL” will be

shown on the display for a few seconds.

MOIL15TR02410AA 4

4. After “CAL” the transmission oil temperature will be dis-

played (in Celsius degrees).

5. Put the shuttle lever into forward, the range lever into
the high position and release the clutch pedal. Set the
hand throttle to the minimum position.

6. Pressing upshift button or downshift button, (1) or (2) (

), the display will show the transmission oil temperature
status:
• If “CL” (temperature range isn’t between 10.0  °C (
50.0  °F ) and 60.0  °C ( 140.0  °F ) ) or “CH” (tem-
perature is above 105.0  °C ( 221.0  °F ) ) is dis-
played, after 4  s the display will return to oil tem-
perature and the tractor may be operated to obtain
a better transmission oil temperature.
If it isn’t practical to wait for the oil temperature to
change, press either upshift button and downshift
button, (1) and (2) ( ), while “CL” or “CH” is being
displayed: the display will then show “Syn” and cal-
ibration can proceed.
• If oil temperature is within the correct range for cal-
ibration, the display will show “Syn” and calibration
can proceed.

Automatic calibration:
A. The engine speed has to be set nearly to 1250 -
1350  RPM .
B. When the display is showing “Syn”, press and re-
lease the range shift switch to start the automatic
calibration procedure.
C. In turn, the synchronizers and the clutches will be
calibrated.
D. When the procedure is complete the display will
show “End”.
E. If an error occurs while in this auto mode, the se-
quence is stopped and the relevant code displayed:

itored. Calibration cannot proceed unless the tractor is sta-

tionary and the clutch pedal released.

A. Use upshift button (2) ( ), to select “Syn”.

To calibrate the synchronizers press and hold
downshift button (3) ( ) while the display is show-
ing “Syn”.
• The engine speed has to be set nearly to 1300
 RPM .
• synchronizers calibration procedure is initialised
when the display show “Syn1”.
• Keeping downshift button (3) ( ) pressed, the dis-
play will change to show “Syn2” while calibrating
pressure for the reverse synchroniser, “Syn3” while
calibrating the forward synchroniser, then “Syn4”
while the 1-4 synchroniser is calibrated and even-
tually and “Syn5” for 5-8 synchroniser.
• On completion of the synchronizer calibration, the
display will show "End".

7. Turn the key switch onto “OFF” position for at least 2

s to store the new calibration values.

Manual adjustment of the C3/C4 calibration

1. Enter the H1 calibration menu as described above.
2. Press the UP button on the instrument cluster while
the shuttle lever is in neutral to select the C3/C4
manual adjustment mode.
3. If the shuttle lever is in neutral, “C3” or “C4” is dis-
played, depending on the gear selected. The gear
selection can be changed while the shuttle lever is
in neutral and the tractor can be driven in any gear
while in this mode, but powershifts are disabled.
4. If the range shift lever is in neutral and the shuttle
lever is in forward or reverse, the transmission oil
temperature is displayed. When optimizing the cal-
ibration values, driveline oil temperature should be
warm to hot; preferably no lower than 40  °C .
5. With the range lever and shuttle lever engaged and
the clutch pedal in either the fully released or fully
depressed position the clutch calibration value will
be displayed.
6. With the range lever and shuttle lever engaged and
the clutch pedal position between 3 % and 98
% the display shows the clutch pedal position as
a percentage, preceded by “C” if the clutch pedal
switch is closed, and “O” if it is open.
7. With the range lever and shuttle lever engaged the
calibration value for appropriate clutch can be ad-
justed using the upshift and downshift switches.
8. It is recommended that the calibration values be ad-
justed to optimize shuttle shifts (made without using
the clutch pedal) in gears 7L and 8L at 1500 - 1800
RPM . The inching point can also be evaluated,
aided by the display of clutch pedal position.

5 03 April 2022 EA298 EN

T5.120 Electro Command™ 104800775

9. To adjust the calibration value, shift the range lever

to low range. With the shuttle lever in neutral, select
gear 7L (indicated by the DOG). The transmission
will not powershift while in this mode; gear selection
can only be done while the shuttle lever is in neutral.
10. Shuttle shift using the shuttle lever but not using the
clutch pedal. Use the upshift and downshift switch-
es to increase or decrease the calibration number
until the smoothest shuttle shift is obtained.
11. Shift the shuttle lever to neutral and select gear 8L,
then repeat the previous step.

The tractor can be driven in other gears and at other

engine speeds while in this mode, to test the calibra-
tion results. However, it is strongly recommended not
to make adjustments while in the high range, as the low
range is much more sensitive to calibration changes. A
slightly harsh shift in high range may be severely jerky
in low range.

Driving the Tractor When Not Calibrated

This mode is provided to allow a limited capability to
move the tractor when the transmission has not been
calibrated. This is intended for plant use only.
1. Enter the H1 calibration menu as described above.
2. Shift to the high range (recommended because of
the better clutch control than the low range).
3. Depress the clutch pedal, hold the upshift switch
and move the shuttle lever to reverse. This invokes
drive-the-tractor mode. In this mode, the calibration
display will show “F”, “n” or “r”, depending on shut-
tle lever position. The display will go blank for about
2  s whenever a synchroniser shift is in progress.
When the display returns, the transmission is ready
to drive. The transmission will operate in 9th or 5th
only (it is not possible to select a different gear).
4. With the clutch pedal depressed shift the shuttle
lever to the desired direction. The display will go
blank while the synchronisers shift.
5. Normal calibration mode can be resumed by press-
ing the downshift switch.
