WRITING
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
The film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is based on the British novel of the same name
by Roald Dahl. The film was directed by Tim Burton and was written by John August. The
film starts Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket. The film
was a box office success, because it became the eighth highest grossing movie in the world in
2005.

The film was started on June 21, 2004. It was filmed at Pinewood Studios in England. The
Wonka Factory exterior was built by chance on the same lot that Burton had used for
Gotham City in Batman (1989).
The movie is about Charlie Bucket, he is a kind and loving boy, who lives with his family
near the Wonka factory. One day the factory closed its doors to the public by Wonka's
decision, because he had problems related to espionage. One day Wonka announces a
contest in which five Gold Tickets have been placed on five Wonka chocolates around the
world. The winners will receive a tour of the factory and will also receive chocolate for life.
But a winner will receive an additional prize at the end of the tour. The winner is Charlie. In
the end, Wonka allows Charlie and his family to move into the factory together.
I strongly recommend Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It has an important message:
never get carried away by selfishness, ambition and competition.
