Happiness
1. What makes you happy?
A tasty delicious meal with my beloveds, my top-chef mom, money cannot buy
2. What are some ways people can do to be happy in life?
Different definition of happiness, a good sleep, do some exercise, give to others (buy a gift,
spend time), smile => Enjoy the small things in life
3. What do you do that really interests you?
Just enjoy the small things in life (spend time w family and friends, read books, watch film, sip
my favorite drink)
4. What small things in life do you enjoy?
Simple things (eating delicious food, reading a good book, buying something new), cheer me up,
spread positive energy, enjoy the moment
True love
1. What are good places to meet new people?
Can meet everywhere (Park, Supermarket, bar or work place) => Not have the best place 
good and bad person everywhere, get out of the house, don’t be afraid, just be yourself, the right
people come
2. There are now more man who want to surprise their girlfriend by hiding wedding ring
into food she eat? Do you think it is a good idea?
Don’t think it’s a good iead, can swallow => do harm to her health, Proposal => a true disaster
Conversation topic
1. Do you enjoy having conversations with people you don’t know?
Introvert person => hard to start a conversation, have something in common => enjoy a lot,
talkative
2. What do you say when somebody interrupts you?
Depends on my mood, almost not say anything, keep quite during the conversation  sad, shy
and introvert, feel small and nothing
3. Can you think of any bad conversation habits?
Interrupt other conversations, say something rude, talk a lot about yourself => don’t let other
people talk  Conversation killers, Listening: important conversation skills
4. What kind of films do you enjoy?
A film-worm, fall in love with many kinds of films, be into (Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-fi),
Romance, Drama and Cartoon, Favourite: Harry Potter, Ghibli & Disney Cartoon, fell at ease,
immerse into the films
5. What kinds of programmes do you enjoy watching on television?
Child: can’t wait to watch TV (Doremi, Chuc be ngu ngon), Now: not watch TV much, dramas
and reality shows => relieve stress, learn from others’experience
6. Which television programmes are popular in your country at the moment?
Don’t watch TV much >< know some: about food (Master Chef), Entertaining (Running man,
Thach thuc danh hai) => feel unwind after stressed day
7. Do you enjoy watching situation comedy (sitcom)? Why or why not?
Yes (love humor, love to laugh, escape from the hard reality of the life: earning money,
studying) => One of the best medicines in life
8. What do you do in your free time?
Go out with friends or family, don’t want to exert too much energy (sleeping, watching films,
reading books)
9. What is your plan for the next holiday?
Think about holidays – happy, visit Da Nang, for a week, visit tourist destinations (BaNa Hills
and so on), My Khe beach – swimming, watch sky from dust till dawn, build sand castle, take
photos with family, Hoi An – delicious local foods and cozy old atmosphere => a wonderful
holiday, looking forward
10. What is your favourite food or drink?
A big fan of durian, special smell, greasy taste, soft texture, don’t often eat  quite expensive
Vietnamese traditional food, by mom => familiar, flavorful
11. What do you often do at the weekends?
Go out with friends or family, enjoy some of favourite foods and go shopping, just chilling with
music, films, books

12. What are the most important things for people who work (a big salary, bonuses, etc)
(see 3A p18 student books)
Work hard for living => a big salary – good choice, opportunities to develop skills and promote
– essential => a more professional person => well-paid, respect
13. How can a company motivate their staff (see 4A, page 18)
Respect, honesty, support => employees - more loyal; big bonuses for good work, free coffee,
motivate employees => get the best out of them
Prompt: flexible working hour, company can pay for the staff’s evening classes, exchange
program (like CD with coffee)
14. Do you like working for a big company?
Yes, big company – big salary and bonuses , good reputation, many professional opportunities
=> develop your skills => clearer career path
15. Do you work on Saturdays?
Depends, have no plan => Work for bonuses, Usually not => after a hard working week => want
to chill out, don’t want to exert too much energy, need to relieve stress
Risky business
1. Which do you think are the best/the worst job? (think about opportunities to meet
people, travel, and other factors like problems to deal with, tasks, hours of work, salary)
The best: Doctor, save people’s lives => making the world a better place to live, a high salary,
personal connection with patients: sympathy and love their lives more, respect from others
The worst: Firefighters, risk their lives and their health to save people; bad working conditions:
toxic smoke, fire; have no actual resting time – be on call anytime => Still a wonderful job, need
more respect
2. People work better under a lot of pressure? Do you agree?
Can’t agree more, push you out of your safe zone, no escape => no self-doubt, no fear of losing
Only thing: Finishing your job; A diamond
3. It is more enjoyable to work in a team than alone? Do you agree?
Yes, don’t mind working alone, like working in a team more (support, divide the workload, get
lots of ideas, more efficient, better problem solutions)
4. People who risk their lives at work should get more money? Do you agree?
Definitely yes  put their lives and health in danger, suffer mentally and physically challenging
5. Which jobs are the most dangerous? Why?
Firefighter – the hardest job, suffer mentally and physically challenging, work under a lot of
pressure, risk their lives, health to rescue people; bad working conditions: toxic smoke, fire; have
no actual resting time – be on call anytime => Still a wonderful job, need more respect
Dream commuter
1. How do you get to college/work?
On foot  not far from my house, have no bicycle or bike
2. What are disadvantages of a commuter?
Affect your free time => take a long time to get to work, pay lots money for transportation, have
to wake up earlier
3. Do you think people nowadays work too much? What problems can it cause?
Don’t think so, work hard for a living, work to achieve anything, to buy anything, No pain no
gain
4. Are you happy with your work/life balance? Why/why not?
Yes, don’t have to work too much, have quality times (myself, friend, family), study in the day,
come back home and chill out (watching films, listening to music, having a chat on social
media); have free time at weekends

Time out
1. What kind of things do you like to do when you visit a city?
Many kinds of things, new city – new experience; visit historical destinations, eat at a restaurant
recommended by the local, try street foods; go sightseeing and take photos => the true beauty of
the city
2. Where can you go/What things can you do for free, or very cheaply in the city?
Lots of fun things to do: Go sightseeing, visit local park, talk to local people, enjoy free music
from street musicians, taste street foods – cheap and delicious, see a free art exhibition => Don’t
have to have a lot of money to feel an ease
Places to visit
1. Do you like indoors or outdoors activities? What are they?
Prefer outdoors, energetic, relieve stress, freedom: Go sightseeing, ride a bike, go for a picnic, go
to the street market and try street foods
2. How do people in your country spend their free time? (See Reading 3A page 30)
Depends on personality, active people – spend more time outside (social activities, go shopping,
go to the coffee shop with friends); introvert people – stay indoors, spend quality time for
themselves, family
3. When you visit a new city, what kind of things do you like to do?
Many kinds of things, new city – new experience; visit historical destinations, eat at a restaurant
recommended by the local, try street foods; go sightseeing and take photos => the true beauty of
the city
4. Do you like spending time with the local people when you visit a place? Why?
A good idea, experience the culture, the food  the best way – the locals: know the place better,
make new friends => A memorable experience

Prefer speaking on the phone  introvert person, too shy to speak face-to-face, feel more
confident

Never before, try to make friend with a foreign person, if it happens => talk to them, use Google
Translate when not understand
3. How will you say if people speak through the phone too quietly?
Can ask them speak louder, use online chatting, send emails, messages.
Unit 5; Great minds
Experience
1. Have you ever made a phone call in a foreign language?
Haven’t yet, have always wanted to communicate in a different language => not a piece of cake,
find a foreign friend, in the future
2. Have you ever made a decision that changed your life for the better? What it was/is?
Yes, learning and purchase English language major, make new friends have many things in
common, broaden my knowledge
3. Have you bought anything expensive?
Yes, the most expensive – my Iphone, XS, use on a daily basis (surf the Internet, study, watch
films, keep in touch with my family and friend)
4. Are you talented at something?
powerful imagination, watch a lot of kinds of movies and read quite many books (fantasy, sci-fi,
so on) => give me inspiration and enrich my imagination
5. Have you ever done or shown your talent in public?
Never before in public, just my beloveds, fear of being called “crazy”
6. Will your talent/special skill be useful in your job/future job?
It will, enrich my mind, give me inspiration, help me create unexpected ideas
