THE BLUE AND RED PILL

A philosophical point of view

UGM COATZACOALCOS
Have you ever heard about left, and right? In modern days there has been a lot of debate
about this, people calling each other “Fascist” “Communist” and people usually ignore the
fact that left and right don’t really exist. The reality is maybe in 1791 when noble and
bourgeois gather to decide the fate of the king, the “peasants” were louder so the aristocrats
choose to sit in the right side and the revolutionaries (farmers representatives and newborn
bourgeois) stayed on the left demanding equality, legality, brotherhood and... guillotines,
on the right were the nobles and aristocrats “blue blood” who were behind a monarchy
imposed from the church. Being cynical we can say one side was trying to gain power
when the other was trying to keep it, but let's pretend they genuinely believed in their
ideals, that the church believed in a “fair hierarchy'' Meanwhile, new bourgeois fought for
equality. Nowadays, there are very few monarchies and they are pretty much just a tourist
attraction.

You may have noticed one thing, even now people still calling themselves left or right,
even though this was a fortuitous thing, like some kind of different species that hate each
other, waiting to slash each other's throat, but in reality the majority of people is on a
healthy middle point, not too left to be reds and not too right to be fascist, but… media
wants one thing, and they are willing to sell this idea that “right people” have this secret
reunions were they behave like the devil it self.. Here comes the spoiler: that doesn't really
happen, but we like morbidity, we want to see blood, crazy red Marx vs blue fanatic Smith,
yelling at each other while covering their ears at the same time, hoping and even betting
who’s going to hit the other first.

But, why arguing about a monarchy that is almost gone? Equality vs hierarchy? Freedoms
against obligations? Or the eternal fight of capitalism and communism? Well, the answer is
not that easy to say. If we took China's communist party as an example, they defend the
free market as well as a rigid bureaucratic hierarchy. Or the current Mexican president
doing left economical moves but socially conservative. Perhaps, Canada's prime minister, a
neoliberal progressist. If you tell a person from the French revolution, they would do 2
things: call out you’ve gone mad and guillotine you (they were into that).
The reality is that these words just serve one purpose, discriminate against the opposite
tribe ideas, so the majority of arguments goes like this: Is this a good idea? Nobody cares, if
this comes from my tribe is good, and if it comes from the other is bad, and everyone that
disagrees is automatically the enemy and they should yell and hate each other. The left and
right spectrum is a tool to don’t think for yourself, because the reality is, there is no right,
there is no left, or good and bad, there is only confused people because of their genes,
culture, their parents and even their age seeking an identity and a tribe... and people seeking
power.

“The Perfect Way is only difficult for those who pick and choose; Do not like, do not
dislike; all will then be clear. Make a hairbreadth difference, and Heaven and Earth are set
apart; If you want the truth to stand clear before you, never be for or against. The struggle
between 'for' and 'against' is the mind's worst disease;” -Jianzhi Sengcan.
Because in a perfect world we are not here to fight, we are here to understand, right now we
are not “fascist” or “southpaws” right now we are only human, or in Aristoteles words
political animals, for our necessity of interactant, argue and get to agreements, but besides
being and animal, hominid or mammal we are living matter, genetic code with the only
purpose of breed and survive, in an infinite cycle, sounds easy but you have to realize
something, everything else is seeking the same, that’s why organs have been develop,
hunting tactics, camouflage. With all of the different species that habit this planet where are
some common questions that have asked some are very obvious and everyone can answer
them, Hunger? Eat, Thirst? Drink.

But we have evolved, not only biological but also in complexity and few other questions,
what is nature of human kind? What should we do if an outsider comes to our tribe?
Natural selection hasn’t been able to solve none of those doubts, that’s why alongside of
being alive, you are involve in three different conflicts, Conflict between nations, the
conflict within your tribe and the conflict in yourself. Let’s go in order, first nations
conflicts, what should one tribe to when they meet another fight or collaborate? First
reaction might be fight, because you don’t know them or what they want, you don’t even
know your intentions, they might carry diseases so killing those visitors sounds like the
perfect answer, right?
Well, kill them have disadvantages, for example, you cannot breed with them if you kill
your visitors you will not be able to mix your genetic code with them and you may be
thinking that’s perfect, so we can keep our race pure and I don’t want to share my genetic
code with random strangers, but how pure it’s too much pure? Let’s take Hapsburg the
royal family from the “Holy Roman Empire” from 15th through 18th century, they only
used to marry between cousins, in one hand they didn’t had share their power with any
other royal families, but in the other hand their genetic defects were accentuated like
pedigree dogs, this result in the “mighty” Charles II of Spain a poor endogamic son with
the jaw so twisted that he could not chew, he was actually called the bewitched. The
American historians Will and Ariel Durant described Charles II as “short, lame, epileptic,
senile, and completely bald before 35, he was always on the verge of death, but repeatedly
baffled Christendom by continuing to live, he died very young but so he couldn’t have
heirs, moral is breed with cousins it’s not a good idea.

We can get to a simple conclusion, life’s toughest questions don’t have simple answers,
human as a social animal can achieve much when they cooperate with each other, sharing
and exchanging knowledge, yes, they can be violent or even worse, they can be carrying
diseases that your immune system is not prepare for. Worst scenario happened when
Europeans arrive to America, yes, they killed and did horrible things.

With this in mind we can assume that we have this tends in ourselves, one stronger than the
other but both tends survive in our genetic code because that helped us to survive, like
selfishness and generosity, what should we do when a member on our tribe cannot hunt like
he/she used to? You take care of it or you let fait decide? This is the conflict inside the
tribe occurs, in one hand you have one mouth to feed that is not contributing like the others,
in this primal setting this could put an end to the tribe, what if there is more than one, what
if half of your tribe can’t hunt? Shout the rest feed them? and if your tribe encounters
another everybody fights? But they are your tribe they are human beings and we exist for
each other. Just look at yourself, we live in groups because we are weak, vulnerable and our
only strength is collaboration. So, compete or collaborate that’s the self-conflict what is the
human true identity? Are we noble creatures on an evil world or cruel beasts that need to be
restrained?
