It is a technique used in the treat ment of minor tissue injuries that uses sound wares above the
range of the human ear but does not produce images.

Its goam is to interact with tissues in the body so that the can be modified or destroyed.

Consists of utrasound base apparatus, console, probe, transducer, monitor and display device.

It is used to treat mild conditions, favors the healing of injures, generates an analgesic and
spasmolytic effect, accelerates the healing rate and improves the amount of repair.

Applying therapeutic ultrasound to tissues with a low energy absorption capacity is less likely

For the use of ultrasound, a gel, is used as a conduction medium, it cannot be used without this gel
since it can cause burns.

It is beneficial in muscle, tendon, ligamentous, joint injuries.

In addition, due to the benefits they produce in the circulatory system, it is also indicated in the
case of bone pathologie, always using the pulsatile method, thus achieving an athermal effect.

Not recommended in acute inflammatory processes.

Do not apply in patients with acute suppurative arthritis and calcifying myositis.

Do not apply in areas of vascular insufficiency, near the eyes or recent wounds.

Do not use in patients with pacemakers.

Therapeutic ultrasound is important because now several pathologies can be treated through
tissue repair processes, by stimulating different phases of the inflammatory process and it is also
very effective for the treatment of spasticity.
