BRIEF EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The residents of Barangay Guintas, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo conducted barangay assembly to address their problems and concerns in the unlit roads and dark areas “during nighttime in their barangay. They have unanimously proposed the installation of additional street lights for an easy and convenient accessibility to be installed in the identified areas to provide solution to the problem. The said project will not only address the present difficulty but will also be a benefit to the future generation. Street lighting provides a number of important benefits. It can be used to promote security in urban areas and to increase the quality of life by artificially extending the hours of work in lighted areas where certain activities take place. Street lighting gives safety for drivers and commuters as well. IILPROJECT PROPOSAL PROPER A. Introduction and Rationale: Barangay Guintas, Barotac Nuevo, lloilo is situated in the North-east part of Barotac Nuevo and one of the 29 barangays of the municipality with the distance of 6.2 kilometers from the town proper. It is bounded by Barangay Baras in the North, Barangay Jalaud In the South, Barangay Talisay in the East and Barangay So-ol in the West. Barangay Guintas is 2 ‘small barangay. it has a total population of Two Thousand Six Hundred Forty Nine ( 2,649) of Which 1,326 are males and 1,323 are females with a total of 471 households. Barangay Guintas is a secluded barangay. Since it is an out of the way route away from the national road the barangay needs better lighting to passer-by. B. Project Description _ Street lights are effective tools in providing a safer night driving environment. Street light is 2 raised source of light on the edge of a road or path. Modern lamps may also have light sensitive photo cells that activate automatically when light is not needed.
