WEEK 8
1. Is unemployment typically short-term or long term? Explain
Unemployment refers to the economic situation where individuals who are actively seeking
employment opportunities can't seem to find work. They are not able to find employment,
not because of qualification standards but rather the unavailability of chances in the industry.
It is often used as a health economic measure to assess the nation's progress or failures.
Besides, there exist various types of unemployment such as seasonal, structural, cyclical, and
frictional unemployment. Unemployment is typically short-term because workers are usually
able to apply their skills learned at one job to another job quite easily. However, this is not
always the case due to structural unemployment, which can lead to discouraged workers.
2. My home country is Uganda in East Africa, our unemployment rate during 2018-2020 is
2018 1.75%, 2019 1.72% and 2020 2.44% respectively
