Watch as Coach explains this 5-on-5 middle vs. middle team drill. You can run this drill with
the middle or setter allowed to block or with just the middle blocking. The drill starts with a
down ball initiation (two per side then switch) with the goal of setting the middles. The
game is played to a score of 15 and is a great competitive drill for the middles as well as an
excellent cardio workout.

cardio. Everyone gets the opportunity to receive and if there is no touch on the block or dig,
your score goes back to zero. Coach uses this drill after a game that was lacking defensive
pursuit or to promote energy at practice.

Watch as Coach explains, and players demonstrate this transition drill which helps train the
movement coming in from serving to dig. Players will start by serving line and then sprint to
their defensive position to dig. Focus on getting the ball 20 feet up and 10 feet off the net.
The drill progresses to serving and digging crosscourt with the same focus and rotation.
