-Redefining solid models using surfaces

Objectives:
After completing this tutorial, you will be able to:
• Replace a solid surface with a quilt
• Create cuts using quilts
• Understand the difference between replace and cut.

Create a model looks like Fig.1. We will use such model to demonstrate how to manipulate
solid using surface.

Task1: Creating a thin cut using surface

1. Select surface 2, go to menu. Edit->Thicken


2. Click to remove material and type a cut distance.

3. Click to preview the result and then click .

1. Select top surface shown in Fig.1. Go to menu. Edit->offset…


2. Select Replace from the list box and select surface 2 as replace quilt
