DesktopLink CE 22.4
Release Notes
OpenText recommends that you read these Release Notes in conjunction with the documentation
included with the software package. If any conflicts exist, the Release Notes supersede the other
documentation.
We also recommend that you check OpenText My Support (https://support.opentext.com) for any
patches or documentation updates that may have been posted after the initial release of this product.
Windows Viewer displays archived documents on the user's workstation. It provides functions for
attaching notes and annotations and printing and checking the authenticity of the documents. It also
enables the standard TWAIN interface to scan and immediately archive individual documents.
DesktopLink can be used to archive files quickly and easily from your workstation. You can also
retrieve previously archived documents. To do this, DesktopLink uses the Open Document
Management API (ODMA) interface integrated in the systems based on the OpenText Archive Center.
You can select whether you want to archive the file in its original format or in TIFF or PDF format.
Viewers are used in various products, which provide the interface for the end user. Some client
components are installed on every user's desktop using the following products:
Windows Viewer now supports viewing and archiving PNG format files.
• Imaging Windows Viewer CE 21.4 is the last version to support Microsoft Internet Explorer for
in-place view – customers are requested to use the Internet Explorer (IE) mode of the
Microsoft Edge browser for continued usage of Imaging Windows Viewer in embedded mode.
Refer to Supported operating systems and browsers for more details.
• Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 are no longer supported.
Note
Documentation that is installed with the product or packaged with the
product download is current at the time of release. Documentation
updates made after a release are available for download on OpenText
My Support (https://support.opentext.com).
3.3.2 Configuring Single Sign-On (based over SNC) to utilize the SNC-SSO
support through DesktopLink
This support is provided through DesktopLink. The configuration instructions differ for different SAP
GUI versions. To configure the SAP GUI version for SSO, perform the following actions:
1. In the SAP sign-in window, select the corresponding system name, and then right-click
"Properties". Alternatively, press CTRL+E.
2. In the “System Entry Properties” window, click the “Network” tab.
3. Select “Active Secure Network Communication", and in the “SNC Name” field, enter “p :<
Domain Name>\”.
4. Click OK.
Important: To use Single Sign On (SSO), the user must set the SNCLib environment
variable manually.
Hardware Requirements
Windows operating systems can only be used with Intel compatible processors.
For large images (B/W images larger than DIN A1 with 600 dpi, up to 10 times the size of a DIN A0
document (11.88 m x 8.40 m) with 600 dpi), the following requirements must be fulfilled:

Archiving and Document Access for SAP 22.x and previous supported
Solutions versions
Notes: Internet Explorer 11: Microsoft Internet Explorer is a legacy browser in maintenance mode
which does not fulfill the requirements of a modern browser regarding features, security, and
performance. Therefore, OpenText recommends using a modern browser. Microsoft announced to
stop the support of Internet Explorer 11 in 2022. Thus, OpenText support ends latest with end of
support by the vendor.
For SAP GUI In-Place view experience Imaging WebViewer is recommended as it supports all
the modern browsers.
If you are using a personal device, there is a settings option to enable the Internet Explorer mode. If
the device is managed by your organization, an administrator must enable a policy to allow the
Internet Explorer mode. See About Internet Explorer mode.

Windows Viewer and DesktopLink CE 22.4 can be installed over the 21.4 version. The installer will
detect the upgrade mode and upgrade the version accordingly. If any older version of Windows
Viewer and DesktopLink exists, OpenText recommends manually uninstalling it before installing
version 22.4.
Create the administrative installer (Base + Patch) and install Windows Viewer.

make Windows Viewer display these files, copy the font set files from
Adobe to the <Installation directory>\OpenText\Viewer\bin\Fonts folder,
overwriting the present files.

Compatibility between From 10.0.0 version onwards, Windows Viewer supports UTF-8N encoding
older Notes for Traditional Notes by default, in accordance with SAP standards. The
UTF-8N encoded Notes created by either SAP or Windows Viewer 10.5.0
cannot be displayed properly by Windows Viewer version 9.5.x and older.
Concurrent usage of The UTF-8N Notes and ANSI Notes should not be mixed. If UTF-8N is
configured as the default code page for Traditional Notes, then all
ANSI and UTF-8N
OpenText viewer clients should use the same setting.
Traditional Notes should
be avoided If Windows Viewer is used with other OpenText Imaging Viewers, such as
Web Viewer, those applications also should be configured to use UTF8-N
as the default code page for Traditional Notes.
If ANSI and UTF-8N Notes are combined in Traditional Notes, the display
of such Notes will not be consistent, and they cannot be recovered.

drivers (printers) apply watermarks in printed documents. Use the option
"WaterMarkOutline=1" under the Watermarks section in the client

Size of the icon for OLE The size of the icon of an OLE annotation placed on a document depends
annotations varies on the default application associated with the type of OLE object (for
example, a PDF or Office file). Displaying the annotation is handled by
Windows and not by the viewer. The icon size may vary if the default
application for the OLE annotation or its settings change. This is commonly
seen for OLE annotations that are PDF files.

Files within web-based DesktopLink does not work with files from within web-based applications,
applications for example, SharePoint Portal Server. The current implementation of
DesktopLink is designed for files that are stored in a file system and is not
designed for use with files that are accessed remotely. The added value of
such functionality is an issue for the Product Management to decide and
has been presented as a request.
Example:
Drag and drop This function utilizes the Microsoft Windows shell. The Microsoft Windows

Windows Explorer.
Canceling actions When canceling any actions initiated using the DesktopLink, wait for the
