Respected Apex members,

LEGAL AID COMMITTEE, Sol, NMIMS, Navi Mumbai,
Lac.sol@nmims.edu.in ,

I am excited to submit this letter of intent to become an executive member of the legal aid committee, which
perfectly aligns with my dream of bringing social and legal changes in the society.
Starting with what inspires me to join the legal aid committee,
People see me as an enthusiastic, fearless girl who is bold enough to challenge the wrongs and stand against
injustice, I have a strong inclination towards social welfare with the motto “WHEN POWER OF LOVE CONQUERS
THE LOVE FOR POWER, THERE IS PEACE”. I believe that mass interest is always greater than self interest and in
democratic countries like India, where a high proportion of population is unaware even of their basic rights, it
becomes the duty of youngsters like us to come forward and serve the nation with every skill and knowledge we
have in our hand, to help people gain justice because at the end EVERY INDIAN IS OUR BROTHER AND
SISTER.

How will I enhance the working of the committee is the question I’ll answer proudly…
As a hardworking and focused person, I have always believed that it is the ability of a person to keep learning and
developing oneself through diverse experiences that makes him/her prepared for the challenges of the future.
Currently I am interning under CRY to contribute towards a social cause, I have also secured an internship under
Madhya Pradesh state legal service authority for the month of July. I believe the learnings, emotional growth,
the connect towards society and the experience I gain here will help me to contribute positively in conjunction with
the committee’s goals and objectives. These 2 are amongst the 5 internships I have done/am doing/will do within
my first year.
While going through the LAC’s Introduction, I got to know about the role of the executive member, I’d like to
mention my skills that align with the role perfectly.
• I am empathetic.
• I excel at public speaking, interacting with people and convincing them.
• I have a confidence that is reflected in my personality. In addition, I have good writing, communication,
planning and volunteering skills.
• I have good leadership skills as well, I was an active member of the student’s council of my school.
• I also have interest in various cultural activities, I have prepared and performed nukkad nataks (street plays)
with many of my school mates even before, I love to write poems on social issues and recite them (loud and
proud).
• Adding to it, I am self- disciplined, versatile and coachable.
• I have utmost respect for my fellow mates, seniors and everyone concerned.
When it comes to my academics, I have always been a responsible and inquisitive learner. I always tried to
understand the nature of the concepts that I learnt while understanding its social and legal implications. I have also
actively participated in various extracurricular activities and events. These have given me plenty of opportunities to
work towards common goals with teams of different people having different understanding. All these interactive
and challenging experiences have helped me mold my personality and develop my communication, interpersonal,
leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. I am confident that these skills will become important
for me sooner during my term as an executive member and later in my career.

There are certain ideas I have for the committee,

So, the people who are socially and economically backwards understand the language of culture more than the
powerful and heavy legal terms, I suggest that folk songs and poems can be a great way to make these people
interested in our legal awareness drives.
In these hard times of covid, where everything is running fast ONLINE, we too need to broaden our reach by
making positive use of social media not only to spread awareness but to connect with some prominent legal
professionals who can help us achieve our monthly targets, adding on to it, we can set weekly, monthly and
semester wise targets so that we don’t go off track anytime.
We can collaborate with various organizations and organize different programs which will be both fun and
insightful. There are many more ideas that can be shaped keeping in mind the committee’s objectives.

When it comes to what I expect from the committee, it is EXPOSURE, GUIDANCE,

FRIENDLY WORKING ENVIRONMENT…
When I began thinking about my future prospects, I understood that the competition in the legal field is extremely
high and one needs to be exceptionally skilled to create an identity and brand for oneself in the legal industry. I
have learnt that the most important aspect of building a suitable and rewarding career is to have matchless exposure
to the industry. Therefore, I know, working here would give me the opportunity to have hands-on learning
experiences all the while having mentors to support my growth and development.
I am extremely confident that the experiences here would mold me to be a skilled and insightful law student as
required by the industry and above that a good citizen with a lot of self-satisfaction. I consider the opportunity to
become a part of your committee a privilege that I will always strive to honor by working hard persistently. I
am extremely excited to become a part of the committee where I will be able to grow under the tutelage of
some of the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals, professors and seniors.
In the light of the above, I request you to evaluate my statement, and kindly endow me with the opportunity to be a
member of your committee so that I can set myself on the right path towards a successful career that I have been
dreaming to build in the field.
I am looking forward to hearing positively from you.
Thank you,
Tanu Patel
