Turkey ranks 33rd among 34 OECD countries in the
SDG index.

Also ranks 48th among

149 countries globally.

Turkey has a long way to go
 We have to focus on human development, environmental
performance.

 Least developed areas are:

gender equality,
industry,
innovation,
infrastructure,
aquatic and terrestrial life,
partnerships for goals.

 We are relatively good at:

good health,

energy,
sustainable cities,
peace and justice,
partnerships.

HIGH-LEVEL POLITICAL FORUM
Initial steps towards implementation of 2030 Agenda are in
progress.
Turkey was among 22 volunteer countries to
share progress so far:

 Goals where Turkey achieved highest

improvements:
Combat with poverty
Infant mortality and maternal health
Water and sanitation services
Global cooperation for development

 Insufficient improvement seen on gender

equality and regional indicators.

FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
The SDGs will be one of the main inputs of the 11th
Development Plan.
 TURKSTAT data sets will aligned with the
SDGs, thus monitoring, assessment and
evaluation will be possible.

Sustainability was one of the main
pillars of the 10th Development Plan
and the plan was prepared on the
basis of «human oriented
development»
 Most important goal for Turkey: combat with
poverty and ensuring high living standards for
all.
 Rule of law, social peace and good governance
have been emphasized to be crucial in
accessing all goals.
 Robust corporate capacity and governance are
the fourth pillars of sustainable development.
Therefore it was stated that cooperations will
be prioritised in order to the improve
corporate capacity.

It is time to end the «business as usual»

 A shared awareness: It’s not just the governments that have

responsibility about sustainable development!

 Business is one of the main actors now.

 Beyond the CSR projects, business is expected to change its

strategies depending on sustainability principles.

 To achieve the increasing role of business about sustainable

development, cooperating with others, sharing knowledge
and improving shared sustainability vision are critical for
success.
