MORTALITY AND MORBIDITY: The leading causes of mortality are diseases of the heart, diseases of the
vascular system, pneumonias, malignant neoplasms/cancers, all forms of tuberculosis, accidents, COPD
and allied conditions, diabetes mellitus, nephritis/nephritic syndrome and other diseases of respiratory
system. Leading cause of morbidity are acute respiratory infection, acute lower respiratory tract
infection and pneumonia, bronchitis/bronchiolitis, hypertension, acute watery diarrhea, influenza, UTI,
Tb respiratory, disease of the heart.
LIFE EXPECTANCY: Life expectancy of male; 67.4, female; 73.6. 71.36 in 2020.
ACUTE VS. CHRONIC: Acute illnesses generally develop suddenly and last a short time, often only a few
days or weeks. Chronic conditions develop slowly and may worsen over an extended period of time—
months to years.
