The series of books English for my Country offer children the opportunity to leam about a new world through the gift of English English for my Country provides teachers with a variety of clear and easy-to-use material within a well -structured program. The series is designed for children between the ages of five to twelve, and the activities proposed in the series are appropriate to their stage of development. Seven books for primary level compose this series. In this series students experience a language as a whole, by reading, writing, speaking and listening to natural discourse. The focus is on meaning and not on form, This series encourages students to express themselves and to discover the rules underlying language structure and expression The idea behind the methodologies used in English for my Country is that students acquire the language rather than learn it. This means that they are encouraged to take onan active role in their own learning, where the focus is on communication. Children are motivated to use English to do things, rather than mechanically repeat structures. English for my Country focuses primarily on teaching English through active learning, Units are designed to help students actively participating in the leaming process by playing games, singing songs and reading poems that involve movement, as well as offering them a variety of activities, such as educational board games, crossword puzzles, mazes, art projects and hands-on activities that encourage students to actually do things. On one hand, the underlying philosophy of the series is democracy and quality of life education. At the end of each unit, students have to work on a small project through which they have to show what they have leaned in each unit. But above all, this is a special moment to help students reflect upon values and attitudes such as; self-respect, co-operation, respect for life, caring, responsibility, among others. This will guide thern to experience a better citizenship and life in community. On the other hand, this series emphasizes the necessity of offering children the opportunity to use and learn through the Web. Students are invited to visit educational web sites to expand and reinforce what they have acquired. To enrich the series, the books come with an audio CD that includes recordings of dialogues, songs, rhymes, chants and narratives. They are intended for both intensive and extensive listening practice. The series English for my Country was written bya team of experts with a large experience in the educational field and in teaching English as a Second Language.
