Analysis of the narrative elements of the story 'How My Brother Leon Brought Home A
Wife".

1. ABSTRACT
- It is the story of a city bride (Maria) who marries a village boy (Leon) and adjusts to
a life of simplicity and toil in the village. The couple marries in the city and returns to
the village to begin their new life and integrate with the rest of the family.
2. ORIENTATION
- The place where the story happened was in Barrio Nagrebcan, Bauang, La Union,
the province of Leon and his family. There are two ways to go home mentioned: the
Waig which happens to be in the fields and a longer path and the other one is the
Camino Real which has the easier and shorter way. Leon's wife, Maria, who is lovely
and tall, stepped down to the Carratela of Ca Celin and was introduced to Leon's
brother Baldo, who is wondering if their father will like his brother's wife and if she
can survive in the barrio.

3. COMPLICATING ACTION
- They took the Waig rather than the Camino Real because their father had told him
to, and they wanted to put Maria's attitude and handling of the situation to the test.
4. EVALUATION
- When they arrived at their home, Leon introduced Maria as his wife to his mother,
sister Aurelia, and especially to his father, hoping that they would accept and like her
for him.
5. RESULT OR RESOLUTION
- Baldo went upstairs to see his father, who asked him about Maria and her attitude on
the way home. However, Maria passed the challenge or test that Leon's father gave
her without her knowing it in order to prove that she is worth it as Leon's wife.
Following that, Leon and his wife Maria entered, and Baldo was instructed by his
father to water Labang. And as he passed by, he noticed Maria, whom he describes
as "beautiful and tall."
6. CODA
- When Leon and Maria entered, Baldo was told by his father to water Labang. And
as he passed by, he noticed Maria, whom he describes as "beautiful and tall."
