1. What is Philippines History all about?
Philippines History is all about the legacy of the past to the present and its
connections from present to past events. Philippines History also contains
collective facts and evidences that gave an understanding of the past and it gave
guidance to the actions and decisions to the present and desired future.

2. What is the importance of the historical method in reading/studying primary


sources of history?
Using historical method in reading/studying primary sources of history is
important because it identifies if that primary source of history has a connection
to the past events and verifies if the primary source is genuine or not. Lastly,
using historical method hones our evaluation and critical assessment.

3. Why do you think the available primary sources (as presented in the book) that
talk about the pre-colonial Filipinos were only made and written by the
Spaniards?
Spaniards colonized the Philippines and they would document and record
findings and evidences of the land the conquered and colonized. Spaniards also
destroyed earlier records that the natives made to eradicate their beliefs and
influence them with Christianity.

4. Do you agree that only the Spanish colonizers made the Filipinos civilized?
Explain briefly your answer.
I disagree because there are other colonizers that colonized the
Philippines. There are some Filipinos that are civilized by the Spaniards but they
are not the only one who civilized Filipinos. Spanish colonization also took the
right of the Filipino people and changed many things in our country.
5. Who really colonized some parts of the Philippine archipelago Magellan or
Legaspi? Explain briefly your answer.

Legaspi colonized some parts of the Philippine archipelago. Magellan was


the one who first European to have landed in the Philippines and claimed the
land but later on was killed by a local chief. Legaspi was the one who continued
the colonization of the Philippines and was given instructions by the Royal
Audiencia of Mexico. Legaspi also became the first governor-general of the
Philippines.
