The most famous Turkish novelist Elif Shafak: Don't be indifferent to the war in Ukraine

Turkish writer Elif Shafak supports Ukraine and condemns Russia's military aggression. She writes about
this on her Twitter.

"Women, children, poor people, and minorities suffer the most in wars. We must always be on the side of
peace, always on the side of democracy in the face of this terrible aggression and warmongering," the
writer wrote.

She also urged people not to be indifferent to the war in Ukraine, because this, according to Bernard
Shaw, is the greatest sin. Elif Shafak noted that concern should also apply to protesters in Russia.

Shafak also distributes a memo on how to pronounce the phrase "Slava Ukraini"correctly.

In addition, she signed a joint statement from PEN International, in which the writers demand an end to
the brutality caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and condemn the war. Elif Shafak also spreads
calls to stop Vladimir Putin.

Elif Shafak is a Turkish writer, columnist and speaker. She is considered the most famous Turkish
novelist.

Well-known writers Margaret Atwood, Stephen King, Olga Tokarchuk, Frederic Beigbeder, J. K.
Rowling, Yuval Noah Harari, Bernardine Evaristo, Alison Killing, Neil Gaiman, Witold Shablovsky and
others also supported Ukraine with their public statements.
