Root directory
During the installation of the GXL software a root directory of the software is
defined. All the program files of the software are placed in this directory. It is
possible to change the root directory during the installation.
The default root directory of the GXL software is
C:\ <program dir> \GAMBRO SERVICE TOOLS\GXL
where <program dir> is the program directory of the system, i.e. PROGRAM
FILES or PROGRAM.
Sub directories
Each dialysis machine has a sub-directory, placed in the root directory. The
dialysis machine directory has one sub-directory for each program version. The
program version directory has a log-file directory, default name LOGFILES and
two directories containing set-files for the supported screen resolutions. The
screen resolutions supported are 1024x768 and 800x600.
Example:
Sub-directories of an AK 95 program version 7_00.
..\GXL\AK95
..\GXL\AK95\P7_00
..\GXL\AK95\P7_00\1024x768
..\GXL\AK95\P7_00\800x600
..\GXL\AK95\P7_00\LOGFILES
Start a logging
A logging session can be started in two different ways, either automatically or
from the Logging Menu.
Program Version
Select the program version of the selected monitor. If the wrong program version
is selected a warning is given when the logging is started.
Note! There is no warning in AK 95.
Logging Mode
The Logging Mode can be “Monitor Logging”, “Readback”, “View log setup”.
The default is “Monitor Logging”.
To log the monitor select “Monitor Logging”.
To playback a previous logging session, saved on the disk drive, select
“Readback”. For more information about this function, see section “Readback”.
To view a log setup, without logging any data from the monitor, select “View
log setup”. For more information about this function, see section “View log
setup”.
Save Log
To save the logging session to a log-file on the disk drive, check the Save Log
checkbox. This option is selected as default. The default filename suggested is
"log". The filename can be changed in the File Name textbox. When the logging
is started the current date and time is appended to the filename, e.g. on the
format filename_MMDDhhmm.log. The default directory of the log-file is the
LOGFILES directory of the selected monitor and program version. For more
information about directories, see the “Directory overview” section.
Logging Type
Select the type of logging you want to use. The logging type specifies which part
of the monitor you want to log, for example “Blood monitor” or “Fluid monitor”.
Each logging type has a number of logging screens showing the information in
different ways, for example in graphs.
Documents
In the Documents pull down menu you can open all the documents related to the
logging, such as error code lists and service logging lists. The same pull down
menu is available in the logging window.
Com Port
Select the COM port, which the monitor is connected to.
Baud Rate
Select the baud rate to use when communicating with the monitor.
Select the COM port, which the modem is connected to and type the phone
number of the remote location in the Modem Phone Number textbox. Click the
OK button when finished.
Com. Test
To test the communication with the monitor, click the Com. Test button.
Start
To start a logging session, click the Start button.
Exit
To exit the program, click the Exit button.

This section contains a detailed description of the File menu, as shown in Figure
5.
Notes
