On this #MothersDay, may we take time to reflect on and celebrate the women in each of our lives who have had
important roles.
I was blessed with an extraordinary mother, Angelena, who believed passionately in the value of education and the
importance of the arts. She was a teacher, a church organist and produced operettas with her high school students.
Loving and strong beyond measure, she reinforced educational opportunities to shield me against circumstances.
Her spirit lives on today in me and in the many lives she touched. She and my father were the best parents anyone
could have - I thank God for them every day.
