Joseph Lister: Someone Who Made a Di erence

Joseph Lister is known as father of antiseptic surgery due to his

contributions in the eld of antiseptic surgeries. He has made a huge

di erence in the eld in two ways. One of the ways in which he

developed antiseptic surgeries was through preventing bacterial

infection of surgical wounds. It was prevented by applying pure carbolic

acid to surgical dressings, as well as cleaning wounds with the acid

during and after surgery. This led to the adoption of doctors using his

technique, and it allowed some surgeries like the abdomen and head to

be performed.
