UNIVERSITY BE MORE 3 June 2020 Dear Students and Parents, Announcement of the Re-Opening of the University Since 18 March 2020, when the Movement Control Order was implemented, universities nationwide have been closed and all Teaching and Learning activities have since moved online. {As our government unveils plans to re-open the higher education sector in phases over the next weeks ‘and months, MAHSA University accordingly plans to lift restrictions gradually and systematically, starting 1 July 2020. This is conditional upon the uplifting of the Movement Control Order. We plan to resume face-to-face instruction and assessments in stages, to support student success while maintaining health and safety in line with university-wide protocols. These precautions will include requiring temperature screening, wearing of face masks, limiting the number of students in any one area, cleaning and sanitisation of all surfaces, and maintaining social distances. We will also most likely continue to provide some online instructions, to reduce any potential transmission risk. In protecting the overall health and welfare of all students and employees and to safeguard against any potential virus transmission, personal responsibility is key to the University’s approach to a safe re-opening of the University. To rapidly respond to and contain any infection, points of contact will be established for anyone who feels unwell or feels unsafe due to the inappropriate actions or toreport 2 likely coronavirus infection. New safety measures will also include a mandatory health screening before students are allowed to enter the university grounds. Sta Re-opening Understand eligibility, ond safety measures required in Sections A and B as follows. ‘A. Eligibility Stage 1 of University Re-opening (beginning Monday, 1 June 2020)* Postgraduate candidates undergoing research-related activities which require campus research facilities Stage 2 of University Re-opening (beginning Wednesday, 1 July 2020)* Final Year Diploma and Degree students, and Final Semester Foundation students will re-commence their Practical Courses and take their Practical Examinations, beginning from 1 July 2020, while the rest of the theoretical lessons will still be delivered online. If these students do not have conducive ‘access to online learning, they may apply for on-campus accommodation. 2020 New Intake of students for Foundation, Diploma and Degree will re-commence their courses. Generally, 30%-50% of instructions will be conducted face-to- face, with the rest of the courses delivered through online learning. Stage 3 of University Re-opening (beginning Monday, 4 Jan 2021)* All students, guided by the same principles in maintaining health and safety protocols, “subject to the uplifting of the Movement Control Order. B. Safety Measures Required ‘To obtain permission needed to return to the university campus, students must read and agree to all Information in this section. 11. Allstudents should wear a face mask while in the university. The mask should be changed every eight hours, or if it gets soiled. The wearing of masks is mandatory unless the students are wearing more highly protective face coverings where required. 2. All students are required to purchase personal sanitizers containing at least 70% alcohol. Students are reminded to sanitise their hands after using the washroom, before and after eating and touching common items like door knobs / door handles / office telephones, photocopy machines. 3. Any student who has come in contact with a suspected must inform the Point of Contact At that point, they shall be advised to seek medical attention at a government or private health facility e.g. GP clinic / hospital. 4, Students who have travelled to any of the affected zones and developed fever or flu like symptoms within 14 days must report immediately to the Point of Contact and seek medical attention at a government or private health facility e.g. GP clinic / hospital. 5. Spacing of at least one metre between the people occupying the same room to comply with social distancing guidelines from health advisories. 6. Wiping down surfaces in labs with disinfectants, both before and after each user's session. 7. Nobody should come to the university if they have symptoms of COVID-19 or have reasons to believe they have been exposed toit. Any student who exhibits symptoms or who is diagnosed COVID-19 must follow the Ministry of Health guidelines including self-quarantine and admission to the designated COVID-19 hospitals. Students who meet the Eligibility for Resumption of Face-to-face instruction and agree to the Safety Measures Required, must complete an online Health Declaration Form which will be sent to you.
