DEFINITION
 It is the teacher’s mental and emotional visualization of the
class room experience as he plans it to occur.

 It is the blue print of what a teacher is going to do.

which these are to be attained as a result of the activities

Lesson planning is an important part of daily teaching plan.
The origin of a lesson plan is from gestalt theory of
learning.10. •
According to the gestalt theory “the whole is perceived by
part”. The WHOLE in terms of teaching refers to THE
SUBJECT (planning) and THE PART refers to THE LESSON
PLAN.

 It guides the teacher in presentation of subject
matter.

ADVANTAGES OF
LESSON PLANNING
  It keeps the teacher to be systematic and
orderly in the treatment of the subject matter.
He proceeds on well-thought of and definite
lines and does not follow haphazard and
thoughtless teaching. The teacher sets forth
with some definite aims in view and is
conscious of the interest, attitudes, etc., that he
is to develop in the students through certain
activities or some other means.
PRE-REQUISITES FOR
GOOD LESSON PLANNING
 Teacher should have adequate mastery and Practice if it is
for skill lesson.
 The teacher must be fully conversant with new methods and
technique of teaching her/his subject.
 Teacher must have good knowledge of psychology, culture
and community and cite various examples accordingly.

 Ensure active learner participation during a class.
 Maintain interest and motivation of student.
 Avoid boredom.
 There should be variety and novelty in type of
presentation.

Objectives

 The topics and sub topics of the lesson plan are


converted into learning objectives, general and specific
objective.
 Objectives should be stated in behavioral objectives which
are measurable .

 Be very clear about the objectives of teaching the
particular lesson.

 Do not forget to announce the aim and write the topic
on the black board.
 In presentation adopt right methods required

 Use of black board should be systematic and timely

the pupils. Figures, Charts, Sketch etc, on the black
board should be expressive and proper.
 If your lesson is divided in to sections, do not fail to
have the sectional revision after you finish each

stimulating and thought provoking, fairly well –
distributed over the whole of the class.

your original plan if the class situations so demand.
 If the lesson involves generalizations or formulations, let the
students discover them.
 Do not tell them as that will defeat the very purpose of the
lessons.
