GWP (The Global Warming Potential) of a green house gas is relative amount of
absorbed or entrapped energy emission by 1 ton of the gas with respect to that of 1 ton
of carbon dioxide (CO2) over a specified period of time (usually the period is 100 years).
GWP allows comparing the global warming impacts of different gases. The larger
the GWP, the more that a given gas warms the Earth compared to CO2.
Names of Refrigerant:-
o Ammonia, Sulphur Dioxide
o R11 (CCl3F)- Trichloromonofluromethane
o R12 (CCl2F2)- Dichlorodifluromethane
o R13 (CClF3)- Monochlorotrifluromethane
o R22(CHF2Cl)- Chlorodifluromethane
o R-132a - 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane
o R-407c- zeotropic mixture (mixture containing members with different boiling points)
of R-22, R-134a and R125.
This refrigerant is intended as a replacement for R-22. R-22 production will
be phased out by 2020 as per the Montreal protocol.
Properties of Refrigerant:-
o Non toxic
o Non inflammable
o Non corrosive
o Non reactive
o Should not change the taste of the food
