MODULE 2: EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION

I remember this saying from this module “Communication – the human connection – is the key
to personal and career success.” Simple but it represents a lot of things about the importance of
communication. What is effective communication and how it benefits us as a person?

In order to survive, being able to communicate effectively has always been an important part of
our lives. Furthermore, communicating our thoughts, ideas and opinions to another person is more than
just exchanging information, moreover, it’s more about comprehension and understanding the true
meaning behind the  message, intentions and emotions being interpreted  during the conversation.  If
we master and learn the effective way of communicating this will truly help us build a good connection
to the person we are talking to. In addition, your fear of communicating and your lack of understanding
will result in misinterpretation and misunderstanding, that’s why learning how to effectively
communicate is very essential, effective communication is also important because it helps us not just to
have a good conversation with someone but also to have a meaningful conversation and express what
we want to say in a way that is productive that will lead to achieving the goal that we  want to have
during our conversation.

Communication is a two-way process. There is a receiver and a sender of the message, there are
a lot of factors that we need to learn and consider to master the effective way of communicating,
furthermore, these factors were also discussed in this module. As a learner we need to remember this
saying from the module “Communication works for those who work at it”. It is never too late to improve
our communication skills, not just verbal communication but also non-verbal communication. Both can
help us achieve a better and productive conversation with someone or even in a group discussion.
