Lesson 3 Adaptation, Recovery and Reversibility

A Critique Paper on the video entitled, “2020 World triathlon Cup Valencia –
Men’s Highlights”

Exercise has been part of our everyday lives. It helps every individual to stay
physically and mentally healthy. Without this activity we won’t be able to experience
how it is good to maintain a good hobby like this. It increases our chances of having a
strong immune system as a protection for different diseases can be acquire due to poor
foundation of health.
Every athlete requires proper training in doing every heavy exercise to avoid
injury or causing damage to oneself. Just like athletes who are actively participating in
every triathlon held in different places. Before they join such a big event, they must first
equip a lot of knowledge on each exercise that they must work on in order for them to
strengthen their bodies and to be not afraid of doing difficult sports.
The video on the triathlon entitled, “2020 World Triathlon Cup Valencia – Men’s
Highlights”, it is seen there that every athlete is prepared before joining the competition
because without proper training and experience you might end up causing muscle
breakdown to your own body. Our body needs first to adapt to the intensity that an
athlete is applying for each exercise he/she is executing.
Adaptation plays an important role in every athlete because it prepares our body
to the exercises that our body is doing. The body will adapt to the stress of exercise with
increased fitness if the stress is above a minimum threshold intensity. To achieve
maximum effectiveness, we must consider factors involved in the adaptation of muscle
to stress and deconditioning. Training provides a stimulus for your body to adapt so it
can handle a greater workload. Training hard every week, however, does not improve
your performance for weekends race. The short-term fatigue and tissue breakdown from
hard training reduces your ability to perform for a few days while your body recovers.
With the correct type, duration and intensity of training, followed by sufficient recovery,
your body continues to adapt to a higher level, called supercompensation. Thus: training
leads to fatigue, which leads to recovery and supercompensation. That’s why before
doing any such heavy activities acquire first a lot of knowledge for you to be educated.
As to what the video have shown, it is clearly showing that the secret to
improving your racing performances is to manipulate your training and recovery so
supercompensation is maximized. Proper training is needed in order to improve the
capacity in performing heavy exercises.
Athletes also needs recovery to the intensity of the exercise being subjected to
them. Each athlete needs to recover fully and allow supercompensation to occur. Prior
to a major goal race, it is wise to taper long enough to reap the full benefits of your
training. It is said that you need a lot of days for resting in order for your body to fully
recover. Don’t panic though, this doesn’t mean cutting out your running, but rather not
running too hard, so there is no speedwork and no racing is happening for two weeks.
Triathlon is a very difficult event to get through that’s why you need to follow what is
right and good for your body.
After starting an exercise, you like you need to be dedicated with it for you to be
able to achieve the body you like. Reversibility is very important in every exercise
because it is just like use it or lose it! Basically, if you stop training then the
improvements you have will be reversed. So, if you’re ill or have a holiday and do not
train for a period of time you may not be able to resume training at the point where you
left off. Be educated first on what actions needs to be executed in order for you stay
healthy.
The parts of the body that needs to be developed after joining triathlon are the
muscles of the upper and lower body to function effectively, which allows everyone to
move forward and do transition between each sport. Just like swimming, primarily the
middle back muscles are used that’s why you need first to know what are the body parts
that will benefit the most from base on the exercise that you are supposed to perform.
At last, Adaptation, Recovery and Reversibility are very important in every athlete
especially when they’re about to join triathlon where a lot of practice and training are
needed in order to stay longer in the entire event.
