WHEN YOU ARE UPSET

All of us come up against difficulties at times. And on occasion, we all get upset. overcome every difficulty and there is a way to act when we get upset. There is a way to Making a foolish mistake; having our motives questioned; facing unexpected hostility; being misunderstood; unjustly criticized; sudden loss of prestige or property, can upset us. On such occasions, we should carefully and honestly review the situation and analyze our own actions, and if there is any folly on our side, admit it. There are three wise rules for governing ourselves when a depressing feeling comes over us. y y y First, in time of desolation, darkness, discouragement, disillusionment, discord, weakness and excitement, make no change, but continue with the plans you made when you had peace, light and consolation. Second, think of the fact that the state of disturbance will pass, and that light and joy will return. Try to recapture the thoughts and feelings you had before the onset of desolation. Third, do not give in to desolation; act against it. Do the opposite of what you are inclined to do when you are out of balance. When you get upset, allow some time for the heat of emotional reaction to cool off. Then clear thinking and normal attitudes will restore. When you feel that you have been maligned or calumniated, go to a convenient place, sit calmly and reflect: Are these things said about me true? If they are true, I must better myself. If they are not true, I am not responsible for the things said or done against me. Who said these things? Out of malice, to destroy my image? For the sake of common good? For somebody s own good / vested interests? For my good? On account of his duty? For self protection? Did he have the right to say that? Was it necessary for him to say that? If the fault is not yours, no amount of calumny can make it your fault. And sooner or later truth crushed to earth shall rise again.

LET YOUR SORE THROAT HEAL

If a former friend has said or done something to hurt you, and even apparently hates you, ignore his hurting words and deeds, and let no destructive thought or action proceed from you. Trials and troubles are often the tools by which God prepares men for great things. So never let resentment get started. When someone hurts you, give that fellow the benefit of doubt. May be he is beside himself; maybe he doesn t have feelings; your sour throat gets only worse if you keep on telling everybody about it.

DO NOT GIVE UP If success does not bless you; if you feel suffocated and blocked, do not despair, do not give up hope. Many achievements in civilized life owe their inspiration to unfulfilled wishes and frustrated needs. History is full of frustrated people rising to heights of power and fame because of their frustrations and because of their redoubled efforts to overcome them. Frustrations are strong motive forces of action and achievement. If your frustration results in anger, hostility and aggression, it can be put into constructive use. Whenever hurt, consider the axiom: This is no misfortune, but to bear it nobly, is good fortune.

NO SOUR GRAPES

Sufferings we all have to undergo. Suffering brings patience, patience, perseverance, perseverance hope, and hope is not deceptive because the Love of God has been poured into our hearts. We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the Excellency of the Power may be of God, not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed. Virtue and strength should compensate for inadequacies and failures. A girl who does not have a pretty face, lovely hair, or attractive figure, may seek compensation by developing her intellect and scholarship and achieving academic distinction which wins her a respectable place in society. Compensations of this kind are certainly desirable. Are you broken-hearted? No, not one like you. You have too many blessings still That you know cannot be bought. See the good, forget the ill Joy will come to you unsought, And abide with you until Earth becomes a beauty-spot once again.
