Conditions and Guidelines for Online Proctored Assessments - FNS 2022

A proctored examination is one which is fully invigilated throughout its duration.

Students who take an online proctored examination agree to abide by the following guidelines
and policies:
1. The examination is to be taken at the date and time stipulated by the assessor, and at the
same time as the in-person equivalent where applicable.

2. Students are required to enter the examination zoom room at least 15 minutes before
the start of the examination. This is to allow for the verification process for which
identification information should be shared with the assessor prior to the exam date.

3. Students are not allowed to enter the examination room later than 15 minutes after the
start of the exam.

4. Students are required to sit in an environment free of any form of learning resources
(books or electronic devices. Only items allowed by the chief invigilator should be present
at your work area, these may include a calculator, a formula sheet or any other previously
agreed upon item.

5. To support proper supervision, students are required to set their web camera in a way
that allows the invigilators to see their entire body while taking the examination (this may
be achieved with the aid of a mirror that is appropriately placed).

6. Students are responsible for equipping themselves with reliable hardware and software
for taking the exam. Any loss of connectivity due to malfunctioning device, power outage
or unstable internet, at the student’s end, which results in invigilators not being able to
see the student will cause the exam to be voided. The University takes full responsibility
for any loss of connectivity from the invigilators’ end and such loss will not result in a
cancellation of the exam.

7. In instances where a student’s attempt at an exam is voided, the student will need to take
a supplementary examination at the stipulated time outlined in the University’s Academic
Calendar.

8. A student’s participation in an online proctored examination is taken as agreement to the

above conditions and guidelines.
