All of us watched Alice in Wonderland. Candy with “eat me”
written on it, makes you bigger when you eat it. Milk with “drink me” written on it, makes you smaller when you drink it. Now think about that you eat and drink those but you can’t be normal again. Fairytale comes true! No, you are just living Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. This syndrome makes you see things differently. You experience mikropsi; which means seeing things as smaller than they are, makropsi; which means seeing things as bigger than they are, teleopsi; which means seeing things like they are further away from you and pelopsi; which means seeing things like they are closer than they are. So, how do you know you’re in the wonderland? •nauseation •dizziness •agitation •hallucinations Don’t be afraid if you have these symptoms. You are just different from other people and you are in wonderland. So, why are we going to the wonderland? It’s observed by John Todd for the first time. It’s named after the book Alice in Wonderland because, its symptoms are similar to the events in the book. In fact, Kewis Carol, author of the book Alice in Wonderland has the same disease. She struggled with migraine for years and she had Todd’s syndrome because of migraine medications. She inspired by her disease when she wrote her book. After Alice, seven more people had the same symptoms. So what are those people going through? What is going on in the wonderland? The people with the syndrome can see an armchair like an ant, they can see the bird on the window as big as the window. They can detect a table soft and they can detect a table very hard. They can’t do their daily work properly because they can’t manage time. Symptoms usually appear at night. This is because there is little light at night. Not every patient has all the symptoms of this syndrome. Some people live the symptoms more than other people. So is it possible to turn back from the wonderland? It usually appears in childhood and it disappears in the future, so you don’t need any medicines but if it appears in the future, you need medicines like antibiotic and antiseptic. If you’re in the wonderland, don’t worry. Be aware of this and referral to a medical institution. It’s just a difference like autism.
