RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE LANGUAGE TRAINING PROGRAM

AT LANGARA COLLEGE
Langara College, Continuing Studies, offers a 6-week full time Retail Sales Associate Language
Training Program, a government funded training program intended to prepare immigrants
for entry into the retail industry. The training will increase your occupational specific language
skills and enable you to work effectively as a Retail Sales Associate. Learning activities and
practice are built into each course to assist in moving participants up to CLB Level 5 or above.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Certificate in Retail
Sales Associate Language Training Program from Langara College.

Following is the eligibility for the program:

 be a recent immigrant to Canada (permanent resident status or acceptable alternatives for
5 years or less);
 be either unemployed or underemployed;
 obtain Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 4 or higher;
 be living in British Columbia;
 not be enrolled in a high-school or post-secondary course; and
 have worked in retail in your home country for at least 1 year before arriving to Canada.
