The Autonomous University of Chiapas (Unach) is the most important higher education institution in the

state of Chiapas and the third largest tuition in the southeast region of Mexico. Unach has 42 Academic
Units distributed throughout the State. Its main offices are in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, capital of the state of
Chiapas, but has a campus in the cities of Arriaga, Catazajá, Comitán, Copainalá, Huehuetán, Jaltenango,
Ocozocoautla, Pichucalco, Pijijiapan, Puerto Madero, San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Tapachula, Tonalá and
Villalflores. Its educational offer consists of 93 study plans and 139 educational programs, of which 78
are bachelor ’s degree, 17 specialties, 33 master ’s degree and 11 doctorate programs in the areas of
Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural and Exact Sciences, Social and Administrative Sciences,
Education and Humanities, and Engineering and Technology. Unach is a member of various higher
education associations, including: the International Association of Universities (IAU), the Inter-American
University Organization (OUI), the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL),
the Consortium for North America Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC), the National Association
of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education (ANUIES), the Consortium of Mexican Universities
(CUMex), the Mexican Association for International Education (AMPEI) and the Mexican Association of
Continuous and Distance Education (AMECYD), among other organizations.
