Disposable syringes are medical
instruments, which are discarded
after one-time use. These
instruments are hollow cylinders
that work on a piston mechanism.
In addition, disposable syringes are
used for the collection of blood
samples from a patient.
Furthermore, these devices are
also used in the extraction of blood
samples from patients, which are
then analyzed to diagnose a
medical condition.
The global disposable syringes
market size was valued at USD
13.45 billion in 2021 and is
expected to expand at a compound
annual growth rate (CAGR) of
6.12% from 2022 to 2030. The
growth is attributed to the growing
prevalence of chronic disorders,
increasing adoption of safety
syringes, and a growing number of
surgeries globally. Earlier the
syringes were expensive and were
used to be manufactured
abundantly. Hence, healthcare
professionals had to reuse syringes
on different patients. As a result, it
was critical for all
doctors/physicians to properly
sterilize and sharpen the syringe
after each use. Therefore, many
chronic diseases began to spread in
past years. Due to this demand for
disposable syringes has been
increased due to their several
benefits over reusable syringes.

GLOBAL
Market Overview
Disposable syringes are usually
composed of plastic polymeric
materials and contain graduated
marks, indicating the volume of
fluid in syringes. These syringes are
rapidly replacing longstanding
conventional glass syringes due to
their availability in the form of
sterilized units and cost
effectiveness.
With increasing incidence of chronic
diseases, expansion of disposable
syringes market, and growing
preference for the administration
of healthcare substances by
injection due to its faster action, the
overall sales of syringes are slated to
grow at a robust CAGR of 9.1 %
between 2022 and 232, totaling
around US$ 49.2 Bn by 2032.
INDIAN
Market Overview
The India disposable syringes market
size was valued at $148.00 million
in 2020, and is projected to reach
$385.54 million by 2030, registering
a CAGR of 10.3% from 2021 to 2030.
The India disposable syringes market
is driven by rise in number of
surgical procedures across the
country. As syringes are used in
every kind of surgeries for injecting
solutions and withdrawing secretion
from the body. Anesthesiology is
the most common procedure
followed during surgeries, in which
the patient is injected with drugs
for comfortable and pain-free
surgeries. Furthermore, other factors
such as increase in prevalence of
various chronic diseases that require
use of disposable syringe systems,
and surge in cases of needlestick
injuries also fuel the growth of the
market.
Emerging economies like India and
China are predicted to record an
upsurge in the demand for plastic
syringes due to continuous
population growth, rising health
awareness, a rise in the cases of
infections caused due to reuse of
syringes, and an increase in
government investments in the
healthcare sector.
North America is likely to undergo
steady growth in the plastic syringes
market over the forecast period of
2022 to 2032. This growth can be
attributed to the swift expansion of
the healthcare industry,
implementation of rules and
regulations for the safe use of
medical devices as well as growing
cases of chronic health issues.
Disposable Syringes
Market: Drivers
Sustained growth of the injectable
drugs sector, which primarily
includes biologics, is the major
factor driving the global disposable
syringes market. More than 60%
drugs in clinical development are
biologics. This indicates strong
growth of the biologics market. In
turn, this is expected to boost the
disposable syringes market.
Rise in demand for point-of-care
administration and technological
advancements in the manufacturing
of disposable syringes are fueling the
global disposable syringes market.
Increase in cases of needle-stick
injuries has contributed to the
growth of the global disposable
syringes market.
Disposable Syringes: Market
Segmentation
Based on product, the global
disposable syringes market has
been divided into syringes,
needles, oral syringes, and filling
needles. The syringes segment has
been bifurcated into conventional
and safety. The needles segment
has also been sub-divided into
conventional and safety segments.
In terms of application, the global
disposable syringes market has
been classified into medication
preparation, medication delivery,
and other clinical usages.
Global Disposable Syringes
Market: Opportunities
Increasing demand for automatic
retractable syringes is expected to
offer lucrative growth opportunities
for players in the market.
Automatic retractable syringes
prevent needlestick injuries and
increase safety in waste disposal.
Moreover, increasing geriatric
population is also expected to aid in
growth of the market.
Market Trends/Key Takeaways
The current COVID-19 pandemic
has, in general, stressed on the use
of single-use plastics and
disposable syringes in the
healthcare sector. New and
single-use products are more
hygienic and aid in preventing
infectious diseases. However,
widespread use of plastics and
disposable products also increases
biowaste. Such scenario has given
rise to a major debate over the use
of disposables in the healthcare
sector. Rising sales of syringes
across the country can be
attributed to the surge in chronic
and infectious diseases, increasing
usage of self-administered drugs,
availability of standard syringes,
presence of leading syringes
manufacturers, and expansion of
markets like prefilled syringes
market, home healthcare market
and insulin syringes market.
