THEME 3: ARTS AND MEDIA

 PART 1: The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of
familiar topics. This part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. Do you like art?
Yes, I like art a lot. It’s including music, dancing, painting,.. Art always inspires me to create
many ideas. Specially, I was approach to art when I was a child. So i love it.
2. Do you enjoy taking photographs?
I extremely love taking photographs, taking photographs brings a lot of enjoyment to me. That
makes me feel satisfied my love in art. If i have many chances to go any new places, i will take
photos which is about this place’s view, animals,..
3. What is your favorite kind of art?
My favorite kind of art is music. It’s specific that singing and dancing are my favorite activities.
I can feel the beat of the song and sing follow this song. Sometimes, I even dance freestyle, so I
attend a club which demonstrates singing and dancing to satisfy my hobby.
4. What is the role of television in your life?
According to me, television used to be important to me when I was a child. After studying at
school, I expected to watch my favorite channel on TV. But now, instead of watching TV I’m
using my smartphone then I join youtube to watch all what I want. So, TV isn’t necessary
anymore in my life.
5. Where do most people in your country get their news?
In my country, most people usually get their news through social media. It’s clearly that people
have their smartphone to update new information in morden era. The number of people who is
old, reads newspaper in the morning.
6. Do you listen to the radio much?
No, I don’t listen radio too much. Because I can’t enjoy radio’s sounding, souding likes “rrrrr” so
it makes my ear uncomfortable. Although my house has a radio set, it’s my grandma. I think I
prefer watch film to radio.
7. Do you always believe the media?
Anything in media is confusing, so I always check the source of information whenever I read
something from media. Specially, every political information I only read at government news. I
don’t want to be cheap.
8. Do you think there are too many ads on television?
No, i think it’s enough. Because some shows will come live, they need many time to carefully
prepare for success of shows. Many ads will help them last the preparing time. Accoding to me,
there are not too many ads on televison.

 PART 2: Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students
will have one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes. The teacher will then ask one or
two questions on the same topic.
Topic 1:

Describe an ad which you have watched recently.


You should say:
what it was for
where you saw it
how you felt about it
and explain why you thought it was a good or bad advertisement.

 PART 3: Discussion
The teacher will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.
1. Should alcohol or tobacco companies be allowed to advertise?
2. Should advertisers be allowed to advertise to children?

THEME 4: SPORTS AND LEISURE

 PART 1: The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of
familiar topics. This part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. Do you like sports?
2. How many sports can you name in 30 seconds?
3. What do you do to have good health?
4. What bad habits do you want to change to improve your health?
5. Do you have enough free time?
6. How can you reduce stress in your life?
7. Do you prefer watching sports at the stadium or on TV at home?
8. Do you play any sports?

 PART 2: Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students
will have one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes. The teacher will then ask one or
two questions on the same topic.
Topic:

Describe your favorite sport.


You should say:
what the sport is
how you first knew about it
how often you practice it
and explain why it is your favorite sport.

 PART 3: Discussion
The teacher will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.
1. Do men and women spend their free time differently?
2. What are benefits of playing sports or doing exercise?

THEME 5: NUTRITION AND HEALTH

 PART 1: The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of
familiar topics. This part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. Do you enjoy cooking?
2. Do you prefer to eat at home or eat out?
3. Are there any types of food you don't like?
4. Do you prefer home-cooked food or food from restaurants?
5. What food do you like to eat?
6. What’s your favourite meal of the day?
7. Which foods from your country do most foreign people enjoy?

 PART 2: Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students
will have one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes. The teacher will then ask one or
two questions on the same topic.

Topic:

Describe your favorite food.


You should say:
what the food is
what it is made of
why you like it
and explain why it is your favorite food.

 PART 3: Discussion
The teacher will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.
1. What foods are popular in your country?
2. How are the eating habits now in your country different from eating habits in the past?
3. How healthy is your country’s food?

THEME 1: REMEMBERING AND FORGETTING

 PART 1: Interview
The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of familiar topics. This
part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. Have you ever forgotten to do something important?
2. Are you good at remembering things?
3. Is it easy for you to remember to do things?
4. Is it easy for you to remember people’s names?
5. Do you think it's important to have a good memory?
6. What do you need to remember to do every day?
7. What do you do to help you remember to do things?
 PART 2: Long-turn talk
Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students will have
one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes.
Topic:

Describe something important that you forgot to do.


You should say:
what you forgot
how important it was
why you forgot it
and explain what its impact was.

 PART 3: Discussion
The teacher will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.
 What are some of the benefits of having a good memory?
 Are there any things that are especially important for people to memorize?
 Do you think having a good memory is important for students?

THEME 2: FRIENDS AND FAMILY

 PART 1: Interview

part lasts between two and three minutes.
 Do you have a best friend?
 How did you meet your best friend?
 Is there anything special about your best friend?
 How often do you meet your friends?
 What do you usually do when you meet your friends?
 What kind of people do you like to have as friends?
 Do you prefer having lots of casual acquaintances or having a few close friends?
 Do you keep in contact with friends from your childhood?

 PART 2: Long-turn talk


Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students will have
one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes.
Topic:

Describe one of your best friends.


You should say:
what this person looks like
when and where you met this person
what you do when you are together
and explain why he/she is your best friend.

 PART 3: Discussion
The teacher will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.
 Is friendship important?
 Who do you think is more important to you, your family or your friends?

THEME 3: MANAGING TO BE SUCCESSFUL

 PART 1: Interview
The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of familiar topics. This
part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. Have you ever been late for something? Why?
2. Do you think it is important to be on time?
3. Do you think people organize time in the same way?
4. How do you feel when you are late for an appointment?
5. If your friends are late for the appointment with you, what will you feel and do?
6. How do you feel when others are late?
7. How do you organize your time?

 PART 2: Long-turn talk


Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students will have
one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes.

Describe something you learned from your mistake.


You should say:
what the mistake was
when you made the mistake
why you made the mistake
and explain what you learned from it.

THEME 4: NATURAL CYCLES

 PART 1: Interview
The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of familiar topics. This
part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. What is your favorite season?
2. Are you afraid of natural disasters?
3. Do you think pollution is a big problem nowadays?
4. Do you think that people should plant more trees?
5. Have you ever participated in any environmental events?
6. What do you do to prevent our environment from pollution?
7. What is your favorite kind of weather?

 PART 2: Long-turn talk


Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students will have
one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes.
Topic:

Describe a polluted place.


You should say:
what the place is
what type of pollution it is
what causes and effects of this pollution are
and explain how this pollution can be controlled.

 PART 3: Discussion

THEME 5: CUSTOMS – ORIGINS AND EFFECTS

 PART 1: Interview
The teacher will ask the students general questions about themselves and a range of familiar topics. This
part lasts between two and three minutes.
1. Are you married or single?
2. Could you tell me something about your family?
3. At what age can people be allowed to get married in your country?
4. Can you tell me what happens at a wedding?
5. What is the best age to get married?
6. Who should pay the wedding cost of a couple?
7. What do you think about marriage?

Students will be given a card which asks them to talk about a particular topic. The students will have
one minute to prepare before speaking for up to two minutes.
Topic:

Describe a memorable wedding that you attended.


You should say:
whose wedding it was
what happened
how you felt
and explain why the wedding was memorable.

 PART 3: Discussion
The teacher will then ask one or two questions on the same topic.
1.What do people usually give newlywed couples as a wedding gift?
2. Is it easy for you to accept an arranged marriage?
3. What are the factors causing a rise in divorce rate?
