The Elements of Poetry that are present in Zuela Herrera’s piece “Dulo’t Simula”
are Line, Rhyme, Rhyme Scheme, Rhythm, and Figurative Language. It may take a
long time if I will mention further all of the Elements and its examples present in
the poem.
So firstly, the poem has its line obviously, but it does not have stanzas just like the
previous poem we tackle “Inggit” by Juan Miguel Severo. Since it is both Spoken
Poetry, it is continuous. But not all Spoken Poetry does not have stanza.
Next is the Rhyme. There are quite a lot of rhymes here in the poem like in the
part, “kahit ganito nila tayo laging pinagmamasdan, palaging inaabangan ang
isang hiwalayan, bahagharing hindi sapat na malaman ang pinagmulan, pilit
hinahanap ang dulo at katapusan”
Notice the end words of every line. It always ends in -an which made it sound the
all the same, so it is called End Rhyme because the rhyme is in the end of the
lines.
