REFLECTION

1. The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. ‖

Mahatma Gandhi.

-To a large extent, I agree that helping others can teach you a lot about

yourself. Gandhi's quote suggests that in order to discover the essence of who

we truly are as people, we must not be selfish. Helping others is humbling and

allows people to see the world through new eyes. Furthermore, helping others

can lead to positive changes in your own life. Others may argue that self-

discovery is not based on the involvement of others, but rather on learning from

yourself; however, humans live their lives with the influence of others, and the

majority of what they learn is taught to them.

2. A community is like a ship; everyone ought to be prepared to take the helm. ‖ -

Henrik Ibsen

- Leadership shifts from one person to another based on the situation and

the expertise of the individual. Individuals recognize the importance of being

ready to share leadership and take their turn when necessary. To learn, one must

be open-minded and respectful of other people's perspectives. In fact, by

demonstrating tolerance and acceptance of all ideas, they elicit multiple points of

view. These small, collaborative groups grow into larger learning communities,

preparing others to take over the rein.

3. Immersion in the scriptures is essential for spiritual nourishment - Quentin L.
Cook
- Many people who are spiritually dry and uncommitted have not

necessarily committed major sins or transgressions, but they have made poor

decisions. Some people are sloppy about keeping sacred covenants. Others

devote the majority of their time to causes that are not as important. Some people

allow their strong cultural or political beliefs to undermine their commitment to

Jesus Christ's gospel. Some have become engrossed in Internet materials that

exaggerate, exaggerate, and, in some cases, invent the flaws of early Church

leaders. They then reach erroneous conclusions, which can have an impact on

testimony. Those who have made these decisions have the opportunity to repent

and be spiritually renewed.
