UNIT 1 – The concept of Forestry

INTRODUCTION
1. Listening. Anna meets her friend Thomas in the Street. Anna is a student, he is studying a
vocational course specialised in forestry. Listen the dialogue, read and role-play.

Thomas: Hello, Tom. How are you?

Anna: Hi, Anna. What’s up? I’m fine, thanks.

Thomas: What about your studies?

Anna: Great! I’m studying a vocational training.

Thomas: Wow! That’s interesting! What about?

Anna: Yes, it is really intereseting and practical. We learn about forest management,
silviculture, agriculture, equipment and so on.

Thomas: What job would you like to get when you finish your vacational training?

Anna: I’m not sure. I think I’d like to become a forest firefighter.

Thomas: Cool! Do you go to school in the mornings?

Anna: Yes, I do. Lessons are in the mornings, so I have a lot of free time in the afternoon. I
usually go to the forest to continue learning things about nature like animals, birds,
how to distinguish types of trees…
