Re: Unexploded Explosive Ordinances.

The Universal Mining and Chemical Industry Ltd, is a subsidiary Company of trade kings group, with an
Electric ARC furnace (EAF) used in melting of scrap and Sponge iron into steel. The company is located
along Chibuku road opposite Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia in Kafue district.

On Wednesday the 24th of February 2022, this office received intelligence information that the above
company had found some unexploded explosives from a heap of scrap metals in their Scrap metal yard.

I was assigned to lead a team of Bomb Expert to Kafue district where we managed to find the
Unexploded Explosives which are alleged to have been delivered to the plant amongst Scrap metals at
unknown date by a company which is currently unknown. These explosives have since been secured
within the company premises ready to be disposed off by experts.

Observation

These are odd military remnants which are found around the country, mostly in old camps for freedom
fighters.

Recommendation.

I recommend that the Police must engage the Scrap metals dealers Association to organize a workshop
where all the metal dealers are sensitized on the dangers and identification of these unexploded
munitions.
