MATERIAL DESCRIPTION

Sixteen different base elastomers, more than 200 unique elastomeric compounds and nearly 100 plastic “production”
compounds from four distinct plastic “families”—all produced in house—go into Greene, Tweed products.

Below are descriptions of materials typically used in Aerospace & Defense applications.

• Arlon® (Polyetheretherketone) – Chemically compatible polyetheretherketone-based material that offers exceptional

properties over an extended temperature range. Reinforced grades offer excellent tribological properties, lending well to
high loaded, dynamic applications.

• ALTYMID® – Polyimide-based proprietary blends of virgin and filled polyimide materials for high temperature, high
loading, custom made geometries for specific structural component applications.

• AVALON® – Ranging from virgin PTFE through to reinforced grades offering excellent creep, deformation, high load
and wear characteristics. PTFE in itself exhibits extremely low friction while being chemically inert.

• CHEMRAZ® (FFKM) – High temperature perfluoro elastomer that excels in aggressive chemical environments.

• NITRILE (NBR) – A copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile that exhibits good compression set and tear and abrasion
resistance. It is one of the most widely used elastomers in the seal industry for petroleum and hydrocarbon bond fluids.

• POLYURETHANE (AU) – Compound that shows high tensile strength, excellent abrasion resistance and tear strength
making it an excellent choice for scrapers and long life rod seals.

• FLUOROSILICONE (FVMQ) – An elastomer that exhibits both good low and high temperature properties primarily used in
fuels but has compatibility with a wide range of fluids. It is relatively weak in the unfilled state and thus typically used
for static sealing.

• FLUOROCARBON (FKM) – Polymer that exhibits excellent resistance to petroleum products, excellent low compression set,
high temperature resistance and compatibility with a wide range of fluids and engine lubricants.

• FLUORAZ® (FEPM) – GTC elastomeric compounds derived from a modified structure of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene
copolymers exhibiting excellent high temperature capabilities similar to FKM with slightly different compatibilities which
can be used in so-called “sour fluids” and as a static seal in phosphate ester fluids.

• ETHYLENE PROPYLENE (EPM, EPDM) – Copolymer that exhibits excellent resistance to Skydrol and other phosphate ester
fluids over an extended temperature range. Excellent compression set and abrasion resistance.

• HYDROGENATED NITRILE (HNBR) – A fully saturated or hydrogenated nitrile polymer. It typically has a higher
temperature capability as well as better chemical compatibility over standard nitrile.
