Dear Editor, It is with deep horror and regret that I read the report Motorcyclists dies after falling off his vehicle. The problem is not a new one. Jalan Harapan, Jalan Sinaran and a few adjacent roads leading to the town centre has been in a very bad condition for a long time, that is for almost a year and the condition gets worse each day. The surface is badly broken up by heavy rain and heavy traffic. There are gaping potholes in some stretches, I am very concerned about the situation for several reasons. Firstly, it is positively dangerous for motorists especially at night. There have been a few accidents involving motorcyclists over the last few months and this recent one must be worst. Secondly, when there is a slight drizzle or a heavy downpour, it is so easy for motorcyclists to lose their balance as they try to avoid the potholes or bumps over the uneven surface. The problem is further compounded because this is a dense residential area with a town centre. Naturally, traffic volume is high.

Facebook a boon or a bane

Facebook-a social networking site that began a couple of years ago that has reached the pinnacle of success by becoming a favorite of social networking fans. It is held as a matter of discussion whether Facebook is really a boon or a harmful addiction?

Well it all started years back when I was first introduced to Facebook, well I dont remember how I got introduced though. I remember it being quite simple and not so much fun and I found very less of my peers out there. But as time passed by even before I could realize ,I was so much into it, lost track of time, age, duties what not even the reality around me .I confined myself to my room and the laptop, I found virtual world being much better than reality where I get to choose my attitude, showcase my intentions, choose friends of my type, connect with the people I admire, share what I like ,show my love towards something, show my hate towards something, get to know people more by just observing well it became an another world of mine.

However, along with the tons of pros, there are also a couple of cons that come by. Facebook is often a

I must honestly say social networking sites especially Facebook has changed the way we interact these days. If I want all my friends to know what I am telling to him or her I write in their wall, something personal just drop a message in their in-box, we find Facebook or these networking sites more convenient to connect with the people whom we even personally know over the years. I personally found that people most of them tend to be two different personalities one in real world other in the on-line social world in the real world one tend to act, adjust, behave, talk, laugh, make conversation just for the sake of others or for one selves own need, where as in the virtual world you get to choose whom you talk to, how you talk to them and everything.

Though, this package comes with lot of risk factor involved like posers, identity theft, and scandals etc. I believe it can be mostly avoided by using the privacy options developed by the respective networking sites and connecting with people ,understanding them and taking time in getting close with them, taking all possible measures in cross checking their identity and then bonding and having a wonderful relationship. Facebook has become more than just a social networking site, it had become a world where you play, you connect, you listen to music, see variety of videos, get updated of the happenings around the world, exposed to other culture, tradition, attitude just like travellers who visit various places and earn lot of experience. We also find many celebrities on-line (not talking about the posers) so we just add those we like and keep a track of what they are up to.

It has affected the way peoples see relationships too, people meet online fall in love and even some couples get married. Love across oceans, truly love is in air. It has also become a reason for so many breakups, misunderstandings among couples, even the married ones. Suspicions increases, parents track the kids, girlfriends track their boyfriends, and husbands their wifes so on. Does these sites provide window to unwanted problems, well I personally believe it all depends mostly on the users attitude and choice. Finally if you ask me Facebook a boon or a bane, mostly a boon than a bane, it helped me look at life and people in a different way, I have made many wonderful friends there and I love spending so much time in it, connecting with new people, chatting, playing. Well it is quite my second life
